The City of Chandler Parks and Recreation Board met for a special scheduled meeting on Tuesday, January
17, 2017 at Chandler City Hall. Nancy Bertholf, Board Chairman called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
Members Present:

Absent:
Jeremy Kirkpatrick

REGULAR SESSION:
Item 1: Kari Bersano made a motion to only use lights during the CSA season, therefore not charge.
Ann Hall seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Item 2: Damon Massey with BMC spoke to the board concerning the donation to registration fees in the
amount of $40.00 per child that signs up for league play.
Item 3: Rick Ford updated the board on the upcoming soccer season.
Jeremy Kirkpatrick will be returning to work so he won’t be able to fulfill his appointment, Rick
would like to appoint Paul Drake at the next meeting. Three and four-year old’s will be able to
play this year with 11U-12U playing in Tyler.
Item 4: Rick updated the board on the progress of field #5 explain that 5 inches of the infield has been
removed and good soil and turface mix will be placed on the field once its dried out. Sprinklers
have been adjusted to accommodate better coverage.
Item 5: Hootie Nix made a motion to do background checks for Coach and two assistants to be done by
draft day. Kenny Knable seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Item 6: Nancy Bertholf updated the board on McCain Park. Book signing the 21st.
Item 7: John Taylor updated the board on River Park. The board needs to think about what to do about
the concession stand that belongs to Creekside Sports and signage.
Item 8: Ann Hall made a motion to table this item until more information can be gathered on policies for
disqualifications for coaching staff and team parents. Kari Bersano seconded the motion. Motion
carried unanimously.
Meeting was adjourned at 6:50p.m.

1. Consider and act on price structure for field rental/light usage, and policies
associated with rental.
2. Discuss BMC’s offer to contribute to registration fees in the amount of $40.00 per
child.
3. Discuss upcoming Soccer Season.
4. Discuss status of the improvements being made to field 5.
5. Consider and act on any changes that need to be made for the upcoming
baseball and softball season.
6. Discuss McCain Park and provide any updates.
7. Discuss River Park and provide any updates.
8. Review and amend if needed policies for disqualifications for coaching staff and
team parents.
