Town of Cheraw, SC Cheraw Town Council - Special Meeting Minutes Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 5:30 pm 1. Call to Order. Minutes: Members Present: Mayor Byrd, Councilmembers Jim Crawford, Tom Boan, Cherryl Melton, Amy Gavin and Robert Williams. Others Present: Brian Rogers, Patti Norris, Madison Scott, Janet Carrigan and Jim Carrigan. Mayor Byrd called the meeting to order at 5:32pm. 2. Invocation. Minutes: The invocation was given by Brian Rogers. 3. Pledge to the Flag. 4. Executive Session. a. Request to Enter into Executive Session to Discuss Legal Matters. Minutes: Councilman Crawford made a motion to enter into executive session. Councilwoman Melton seconded the motion and the motion passed unanimously. Entered into executive session at 5:34pm. Councilwoman Melton made a motion to exit executive session. Councilman Boan seconded the motion and the motion passed unanimously. Exited executive session at 6:16pm. Mayor Byrd asked if there was a motion coming out of executive session. Councilman Crawford made a motion to authorize the town manager to hire an environmental lawyer to advise us on PCB contamination in Huckleberry Creek. Councilwoman Melton seconded the motion and the motion passed unanimously. 5. Adjourn. Minutes: Councilwoman Melton made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
