CHICOPEE CITY COUNCIL HUMAN RESOURCE C OMMITTEE APPROVED MEMBERS James Tillotson Gary Labrie Gerry Roy Timothy McLellan William Zaskey MINUTES August 25, 2014 The following are the minutes of a public hearing held Monday, August 25, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, Fourth Floor, City Hall Annex, 274 Front Street, 4th floor, Chicopee, MA 01013 Present: Tillotson, Labrie, McLellan, Roy Absent: Zaskey Also Present: Councilor Lamontagne, Councilor Krampits, Councilor Zygarowski, Councilor Laflamme, Councilor Brooks, Daniel Garvey (Associate City Solicitor) Meeting called to order at 6:00 PM In compliance with the Open Meeting Law the Chairman asked if anyone in the audience was recording the meeting. ITEM #1 Mayoral appointment of Joshua Clark as a member of the Planning Board to serve in such office for the term expiring on the 1st of April, 2019. The Chairman read the following letter from Mr. Clark: My name is Joshua Clark and I was scheduled to appear before the Human Resources Committee at the invitation of Councilor Tillotson to discuss the mayor's request to appoint me to the Planning Board. Can you please communicate the following message to the members of the City Council as soon as possible? "I am writing to inform the City Council that I would like to withdraw from the process of being appointed to the Planning Board. It is a decision that I am not taking lightly, as it is such an important board to fill in the city. It would have been an honor and a privilege to serve on the board, however, due to my lack of experience and desire to serve the city in the best way possible, this decision had to be made. I do subscribe to the notion that a person can't get experience without actually having experience, but there are other outlets for me to gain experience and to get my feet wet in the city, other than the Planning Board. I would like to thank the City Council for their time and consideration and wish the person who is deemed to replace me the best of luck." 1 Thank you, Joshua T Clark Motion made by Councilor Roy and second by Councilor McLellan to accept the withdraw. ITEM #2 Mayoral appointment of Vanessa Oquendo as Information Technology Director to serve in such office beginning August 18, 2014. Motion made to approve. Committee vote 4 – 0 favorable. ITEM #3 Minutes – June 10, 2014. Motion made to approve. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 6:26 PM. 2
