Zygarowski Frank Laflamme Timothy McLellan MINUTES December 9, 2014 The following are the minutes of a public hearing held Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 6:30 PM in the City Council Chambers, Fourth Floor, City Hall Annex, 274 Front Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. Members Present: Tillotson, Labrie, Laflamme, Zygarowski, McLellan Also Present: Daniel Garvey (Associate City Solicitor), Councilor Brooks The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM. In compliance with the open meeting laws the Chairman asked if anyone in the audience was recording the meeting. ITEM #1 One-Way Streets Sherbrook Street Going north between McKinstry Avenue and Bay State Road One Way Street Councilor Labrie stated that he is proposing this ordinance because the residence at 67 Bay State Road has had her house crashed into along with her car. It is a dangerous situation and hopefully creating this one- way street will alleviate this problem. Marie Ann Lauren, 67 Bay State Road, stated that it is dangerous because drivers try to cut through this area to bypass the traffic on McKinstry and Granby Road. The car that crashed into her house crashed into her bedroom. Eva Szczech, 960 McKinstry Avenue, stated that it is a good idea because drivers do not adhere to the stop sign speed down the street. 1 Councilor Labrie stated that he would like to amend the language on the proposed ordinance. He would like it to read “Going north between Bay State Road and McKinstry Avenue.” Motion made by Councilor Laflamme and second by Councilor Labrie to approve with amendment. Committee vote 5 – 0 favorable. ITEM #2 Isolated Stop Sign McKinley Avenue At the intersection of McKinley Avenue and Asinof Avenue Isolated Stop Sign Motion made by Councilor Laflamme and second by Councilor Labrie to approve. Committee vote 5 – 0 favorable. ITEM #3 Isolated Stop Sign Springfield Street At the intersection of Springfield Street and Front Street Isolated Stop Sign Motion made by Councilor Zygarowski and second by Councilor Laflamme to approve. Committee vote 5 – 0 favorable. ITEM #4 Right Turn on Red 260-72 New Ludlow Road At the intersection of Montcalm Street in both direction Right Turn on Red Prohibited. Councilor Roy is waiting for accident reports from the Police Department. Motion made to table. Motion passed. Motion passed. 2 ITEM #6 Parking Regulations Robak Drive East side for a distance of 60 feet from the intersection of Burnett Road Parking Prohibited Here to Corner Motion made by Councilor Laflamme and seconded by Councilor Labrie to approve. Committee vote 5 – 0 favorable. ITEM #7 Minutes – November 12, 2014 Motion made to approve. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 6:49 PM. 3
