Zygarowski, Chairman Frank Laflamme, Vice Chairman John Vieau Jean Croteau, Jr. Dino Brunetti MINUTES June 24 , 2013 The following are the minutes of a public hearing held Monday, June 24, 2013 at 6:00 P.M. in the City Council Chambers, Fourth Floor, City Hall Annex, 274 Front Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. Members Present Zygarowski, Laflamme, Brunetti (arrived 6:02), Croteau, Not Present Vieau, Also Present ITEM #1 Communication from the Chief of Police regarding a Justice Assistance Grant in the amount of $22,833.00 Captain Sullivan stated that this is a local grant named after an Officer Burn. Part of the grant is to purchase Public Safety equipment and this year we would like to buy body armor for our special response team that are trained to provide tactical assistance in resolving dangerous situations. The vests that we have now are over twelve years old and need to be replaced. The vests are over twenty five hundred dollars which would allow us to buy nine vests for our team members. Councilor Croteau asked how many members do you have on the tactical squad. Captain Sullivan answered currently there are nine but we want to raise it to sixteen in the future. Motion made to approve – motion passed. Committee vote 4 – 0 favorable. ITEM #2 Minutes – March 27, 2013. Motion made to approve. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 6:06 PM. 1
