TOWN OF CICERO TOWN COUNCIL STAFF MEETING MINUTES THURSDAY, JANUARY 11, 2024 at 7:00 PM Call to Order: President Lutz called the meeting to order. Present: Christopher Lutz Absent: Dennis Johnson Joe Cox Eric Hayden Emily Pearson Others Present: Rhonda Gary, Clerk Treasurer 1. Town Council – a. OTC – President Lutz asked for a volunteer to serve as liaison to OTC (Our Town Cicero). Ms. Pearson accepted that position. Council thanked Ms. Pearson. b. Mock Meeting – President Lutz informed the council that Mr. Weber from Hamilton Heights Middle School contacted him and would like to host a town meeting for his students. President Lutz informed Mr. Weber of meeting guidelines and suggested a mock meeting. Mr. Weber was receptive to the idea. More information to follow. c. Indiana On Tap – Mr. Cox stated that although he relayed to Indiana On Tap that Cicero is not interested in their proposed event, they would still like to host a tasting event. In the end, it was decided that Superintendent Hunter will reach out to Indiana On-Tap for specific information to see if the town can accommodate. 2. Parks – a. Trash Ordinance, Dumpsters – Superintendent Hunter asked that council review the current ordinance as he would like them to consider an amendment. He asked that council consider including dates/times that residential toters must be placed and removed to and from the collection locations. He stated that he would like to mimic Arcadia’s ordinance. Ms. Gary will follow up with Arcadia and Mr. Culp. b. Sick Day Payout – Superintendent Hunter asked that council review the current sick day payout policy. President Lutz requested that Ms. Gary forward the policy to the council for review. He also asked for Ms. Gary to add it to the February Staff Meeting Agenda. 3. Plan – Plan Director Zawadzki was not present. 4. Fire – Deputy Chief Smith was present to discuss the April 2024 Eclipse. Lots of scenarios were discussed and proposed. In the end, council asked that Deputy Smith put together a defined list, as well as a budget. 1  5. Police – Chief Rednour stated that he has hired a new police officer. She started on 1/8/24 and has previously attended the academy. 6. Water/Wastewater – Superintendent Cooper had nothing to report. 7. Clerk Treasurer – Ms. Gary stated that the annual retreat is coming up in February and asked council to consider possible dates. Council decided on February 10th and asked that Ms. Gary work on the agenda and advertise same. 8. Project Coordinator – Coordinator Strong had nothing to report.
