Wednesday, March 8, 2023
Clarinda City Hall – 5 p.m.
The Clarinda City Council met at the Clarinda City Hall on March 8,2023 at 5:00 p.m. Mayor Craig Hill presided at the
meeting with the following Council Members present: Jeff McCall, Austin Ascherl, Kaley Neal, Jamie Shore, and Matt
Ridge.
Mayor Craig Hill asked for all to recite the Pledge of Allegiance
Adopt Agenda
Motion by McCall to adopt the agenda. Seconded by Ascherl. Vote was unanimous.
Consent Agenda
Councilor Shore made a motion to approve the Consent Agenda consisting of the February 22,2023. Regular Council
Minutes and February Warrants & February Financial Statement. Seconded by Ridge. Vote was unanimous.
Public Hearing for Fiscal Year 2024 Budget
Mayor Hill opened the Public Hearing at 5:02 p.m. Manager McClarnon stated the Public Hearing Notice for Fiscal Year
2024 Budget was published in the Southwest Iowa Herald as required by law and there were no written or oral
comments. Manager McClarnon stated $16.75 per $1000 for Levy rate will remain the same after the revised budget is
finished due to the passage of a new law reducing the residential rollback. Mayor Hill closed the Public Hearing at 5:03
p.m. for Fiscal Year 2024 Budget.
Resolution #2055 for Adoption of Budget Certification of City Taxes Fiscal Year Beginning July 1,2023 – Ending
June 30,2024
McCall made a motion to approve Resolution #2055 for Adoption of Budget Certification of City Taxes for Fiscal Year
Beginning July 1,2023 – Ending June 30,2024. Seconded by Ascherl.
Roll Call:
Aye: McCall, Ascherl, Neal, Ridge, and Shore.
Nays: None
Motion Carried
Discuss Clean-up Days
Motion by Ascherl to approve June 1st from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., June 2nd from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and June 3rd from
7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for Annual Clean-up days. Seconded by Neal. Vote was unanimous.
Council Communications
Counselor Ascherl stated there is a chance for snow and he reminded the community to please remove their cars from
the city streets.
Manager Communications
Manager McClarnon announced the new Fire Truck has been delivered and the grant funds in the amount of $275,000
have been received. McClarnon stated that the next city council meeting would be held at the Fire Department so the
council would have an opportunity to view the new equipment.

Motion by McCall to adjourn the meeting at 5:08 p.m. Seconded by Ascherl. Vote was unanimous.
