Clarinda City Council Minutes Wednesday, July 24, 2024 City Hall – 5:15 p.m. The Clarinda City Council met at City Hall on July 24, 2024, at 5:15 p.m. Mayor Craig Hill presided over the meeting with the following Council Members present: Mike Allbaugh, Kaley Neal, Austin Ascherl, Todd Reed, and James Shore. Mayor Craig Hill Opened the meeting and asked for all to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Adopt Agenda Motion by Neal to Adopt the Agenda. Seconded by Ascherl. Vote was unanimous. Consent Agenda Motion by Shore to approve the consent agenda consisting of (a) July 10, 2024, Regular Council Minutes (b) Liquor license Renewal for Inda Clar Bar & Billiards. Seconded by Reed. Vote was unanimous. Permission to hold 5K run on August 19, 2024 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the city streets from the PK-6 School Building to the Lied Center and then back to the PK-6 School Building Maddie Hartley from Clarinda Regional Health Center asked the City Council permission to hold a 5K run on August 19, 2024 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the city streets from the PK-6 School Building to the Lied Center and then back to the PK-6 School Building. Hartley stated that the actual run would start at 5:30 p.m. and would go along Glenn Miller Drive, then to 8th Street, then Garfield Street then Ozzie Smith Drive to the Recreation Trail at the Park. The Return route would go on Main Street to South 12th Street, then around the old football field, and then down 13th Street to the PK-6 School Building. Motion by Neal to approve the 5K run on August 19, 2024 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the city streets from the PK-6 School Building to the Lied Center and then back to the PK-6 School Building. Seconded by Ascherl. Vote was unanimous. Discussion/Action Regarding Pay Request #3 to Crain Construction for Alley Improvement Project in the amount of $311,474.93 Motion by Reed to Approve Pay Request #3 to Crain Construction for Alley Improvement Project in the amount of $311,474.93. Seconded by Shore. Vote was unanimous. Council Communication Councilor Allbaugh communicated that he is resigning from the City Council, effective today, due to personal reasons. Allbaugh thanked everyone for their support. Councilor Ascherl thanked Allbaugh for his time on council and wished him good luck. Manager Communications Manager McClarnon communicated that he has been busy with the State Auditors regarding the Fiscal Year 2024 Audit. McClarnon also mentioned that the Fiscal Year 2023 Audit is almost complete. Manager McClarnon also thanked Mr. Allbaugh for his time on the City Council. Mayor Communications Mayor Hill thanked Mr. Allbaugh for his time on the City Council and wished him good luck. Hill congratulated the Clarinda A’s for earning the right to play in the championship game. Hill stated that the Page County Fair is in process and recommended people go to the Fair to support the young people involved in the Fair. Hill asked everyone to be mindful of the extreme heat and to take care of themselves in the heat. Hill also mentioned that with the council vacancy, the city council would be discussing the next steps at the August14th council meeting.
