SUSTAINABILITY BOARD Minutes, September 20, 2021 1) CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 3:00 pm by City Attorney Lance Baker 2) ATTENDANCE • Present: Mayor Pitts, Lance Baker, Valerie Guzman, Jimmy Mann, Chris Rasnic, Karen Reynolds, Wanda Smith • Absent: Travis Holleman, Bert Singletary • Also Present: Bill Harpel, Olivia Herron, Carly Sommers 3) INTRODUCTIONS Mayor Joe Pitts Mayor Pitts thanked everyone for their participation with the Sustainability Board and then introductions were made. 4) PURPOSE OF BOARD City Attorney Lance Baker Mr. Baker explained the purpose of the Board and referenced RESOLUTION 55-2020-21 and Exhibit “A” 5) RULES AND PROCEDURES City Attorney Lance Baker Mr. Baker suggested the best place to start would be with the creation of Bylaws. Mr. Baker to forward a template to the Committee for guidance. His advice was to keep thing simple and make the Bylaws be a supplement to the Rules and Procedures. 6) ELECTION OF OFFICERS City Attorney Lance Baker Chair: Councilperson Smith nominated Valerie Guzman as Chair. Councilperson Reynolds seconded. Motion passed unanimously. Vice Chair: Commissioner Rasnic nominated Councilperson Reynolds as Vice Chair. Councilperson Smith seconded. Motion passed unanimously. Secretary: Councilperson Smith nominated Mr. Mann as Secretary. Vice Chair Reynolds seconded. Motion passed unanimously. 7) ADOPTION OF BYLAWS Chair Valerie Guzman Mr. Baker suggested the Board postpone this discussion until the October Meeting. Councilperson Smith moved that the adoption of Bylaws be postponed. Vice Chair Reynolds seconded. Motion passed unanimously. 8) DISCUSSION: RECYCLOPS Chair Valerie Guzman Carlye Sommers gave a presentation on Recyclops. She said they will collect residential and then move into commercial. 9) MEETING SCHEDULE Chair Valerie Guzman Until Bylaws, a mission statement and purpose have been set, the Committee agreed to meet in October and November and then re-evaluate in January. Chair Guzman moved that the Committee meet October 18 at 3:00 pm and November 15 at 3:00 pm. Vice Chair Reynolds seconded. Motion passed unanimously. Mr. Baker reminded everyone that Mr. Harpel is the Liaison for the committee and to direct any inquiries to him or the City Clerk directly. 10) ADJOURNMENT Chair Valerie Guzman Councilperson Smith motioned for adjournment. Vice Chair Reynolds seconded. Motion passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 3:47 pm
