Tree Board Minutes
October 20, 2021 @ 4:00 pm
Shasteen Conference Room
APSU Campus
Attendance: Wes Powell, Brian Beuscher, Cindy Moore, John Hillborn, Linda Friend, Alex Wills
and Ashlee Evans.
1. Wes made a motion to approve the September minutes. Brian seconded. Minutes
were approved.
2. Wes talked about the upcoming tree planting sponsored by Green Interchange. This
will take place on Nov. 12th at Fire House 10 on Needmore Rd. 10-20 trees will be
donated by Green Interchange and they will be recruiting First Responders, Veterans
and citizens as planting volunteers. They will send out a link to register as
volunteers. The City will also require a ‘Hold Harmless’ form be filled out as well.
Senator Mark Green will be at this event.
3. Kathrine gave a presentation on tree care at the Sustainability Forum that was held
at the Outdoor Education Center on the APSU campus earlier this month. It was one
of the more popular presentations for the day.
4. Alex brought up the need for presenters at the Outdoor Education Center in the
spring.
5. Wes mentioned the state champion Douglas Fir on the APSU campus which led
Linda to ask about programs to preserve and protect the larger trees in our
community. Wes mentioned that we did have a Legacy tree program, but it needs to
be reviewed and confirm that trees in that program are still living.
6. Wes mentioned that Clarksville has not officially recognized an Arbor Day for 2021.
He is going to reach out to Green Interchange and the Mayor’s office to see if we can
piggyback on the tree planting event.
With no further business the meeting was adjourned.
