CITY OF CLEVELAND BEER BOARD MINUTES June 14, 2016 BE IT REMEMBERED THAT the City of Cleveland Beer Board held their scheduled monthly meeting on June 14, 2016, at the Cleveland Municipal Building. Present and presiding was Joe Kirkpatrick. Also present were board members Mark Smith, Donald Humes and Ellie St. Pierre. Gerald Lillard was absent from the meeting. Others in attendance according to the sign-in sheet were Christy Bryant, Beer Board Secretary, Eddie Fernandez with Angela’s Cuban Restaurant, Adam Lowe and City Attorney John Kimball. Mark Smith moved to accept the minutes of the regular session held on May 10, 2016 and approved them as written. The motion was seconded by Ellie St. Pierre; and upon roll call, unanimously passed. Upon review of the application and survey Mark Smith moved to approve the following permit under the consent agenda: • Angela’s Cuban Restaurant located at 810 Stuart Rd NW Owner: Eduardo Fernandez and Angela Fernandez The motion was seconded by Ellie St. Pierre; and upon roll call, unanimously passed. Adam Lowe addressed the Beer Board concerning the number of Class 2 permits. He stated as an owner his business, The Venue at Creekside, would like to have the ability to control the situation and have the ability to serve instead of caterers serving alcohol at events held in his establishment. He asked the Board to recommend to the City Council expanding the number of Class 2 permits. Mark Smith stated he would like to the number raised for 10 to 15. Chairman Kirkpatrick stated he felt it would be best to recommend 12. Mark Smith then moved to recommend to the City Council increasing the number of Class 2 permits from 10 to 12. The motion was seconded by Ellie St. Pierre; and upon roll call, unanimously passed. City Attorney John Kimball stated he would prepare an ordinance for the next City Council meeting on June 27. It will require two readings before it goes into effect. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
