MINUTES REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY OF CLEVELAND HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION TUESDAY, APRIL 26, 2016 AT 5:15 PM CLEVELAND MUNICIPAL BUILDING 190 CHURCH STREET NE The regular meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission was called to order by Maryl Elliott, Chairman, at 5:20 P.M. Members present included Phyllis Callaway, Rufus Triplett, Joan Benjamin, Rand Wood, Maryl Elliott and Jane Easterly. Members absent were Sarah Coleman. Staff present included Corey Divel, Senior Planner, Jonathan Jobe, Director of Engineering & Development Services, and Darla Jenkins, Executive Secretary. Others present included Jim Brown, Phil Collier, Dean Berk and Joyanna Love of The Cleveland Daily Banner. Minutes of the special called meeting of March 10, 2016 were presented for approval. Joan Benjamin made a motion to approve and Randy Wood seconded the motion. A vote of 6-0 passed the motion. Minutes of the regular meeting of March 22, 2016 were presented for approval. Rufus Triplett made a motion to approve and Phyllis Callaway seconded the motion. Voting 6-0, the motion was approved. There were not Public Hearings. There was no Old Business. In New Business, a. Phil Collier requests an amendment to a Certificate of Appropriateness for work at 333 17th St NW (Tax Map 49E Group W Parcel 3.00 & 3.01). The property is zoned R1 Single Family Residential (pg1). Rufus Triplett made a motion to approve the second alternate drive proposal by Phil Collier subject to approval by transportation project manager, David Sheely. Joan Benjamin seconded the motion. The commission voted 6-0 to approve. b. Dean Berk requests a Certificate of Appropriateness for work at 740 Worth NW (Tax Map 49M Group B Parcel 18.00). Property is R1 Single Family zoning district (pg5). Rufus Triplett made a motion to approve Mr. Berk’s request and Phyllis Callaway seconded the motion. A 6-0 vote passed the motion. In Other Projects, a. 540 18th St Jim Brown wanted to put a small work shed in his back yard. It would not be visible from the street per Rufus Triplett. No motion was needed as it would not be seen from the street per the Historic Preservation Board. b. MPO Letter-Draft 2040 Regional Transportation Plan An MPO letter dated April 22, 2016 concerning the draft 2040 Regional Transportation Plan for the Cleveland, TN urbanized area requesting comments and review was delivered to board members. In the Board Member Report, Joan Benjamin stated fire repairs to a house on 14th Street had not been brought to the Historic Preservation Commission. Members asked for a letter to be mailed to the homeowner. Also, near the home on 14th Street, a fence had been put in without approval from the Historic Preservation Commission. Members asked for a letter to be mailed to the homeowner. The meeting was adjourned at 6:15 P.M.
