Regular Village Board Meeting

MINUTES Regular Board Meeting Village Office, September 11th, 2024 5:30 p.m. – 6:03 p.m. Regular Village Board meeting for the Village of Cobb was called to order at 5:30 pm by President Robert Roelli. Members Attending: President – Robert Roelli, Trustees – Renee Linscheid, Kris Schoville, Alisha Martin, Liz Lenz, and Alaina Benton. Members Absent: Nick Klaas Staff Present: Public Works Director – Mark Flanagan, Village Clerk – Carley Rider. Public Notices: MOTION (Schoville, Lenz): motion carried by unanimous voice vote to approve posting of agenda at the following four places: Cobb Post Office, Cobb Food Mart, Royal Bank, and the Village Office on Monday, September 9th, 2024, and compliance of the open meeting law. Pledge of Allegiance Minutes: MOTION (Linscheid, Martin): a motion carried by unanimous voice vote to approve the August minutes. Treasurer’s Report: MOTION (Lenz, Benton): a motion carried by unanimous voice vote to approve the August Treasurer’s Reports. COMMITTEE & COMISSION REPORTS Library Board – minutes were reviewed. Cobb-Highland Recreation Commission – agenda and minutes were reviewed. Fire District Board – 2025 Budget was reviewed. Splash Pad Committee – Renee reported the resignation of Secretary/Treasurer Liz Lenz. A request for the summarization of water usage was made. The Committee also asked for Carley to double check deadlines as well as submission requirements. Planning Commission- Carley noted that a doodle poll was sent to Planning Commission members. Kris and Alisha reported that they had not yet received notification of the doodle poll. Carley will be sending links via email to anyone who had not yet responded in the event they did not receive the initial poll. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Action on 2025 Fire Budget- MOTION (Roelli, Lenz): motion carried 5-0 on a roll call vote (Benton – Aye, Linscheid – Abstain, Schoville – Aye, Martin – Aye, Lenz – Aye, Roelli – Aye) to approve the 2025 Fire Budget. Contract Policing- Carley was requested to check if the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department would be sending a new contract as the current contract is outdated and does not reflect the price increase. Irrigation- MOTION (Roelli, Lenz): motion carried 6-0 on a roll call vote (Benton – Aye, Linscheid – Aye, Schoville – Aye, Martin – Aye, Lenz – Aye, Roelli – Aye) to approve the purchase of a new irrigator control box. NEW BUSINESS Alliant Fiber- The board requested Carley gain more information on whether a decision regarding renting fiber lines must be made and what else renting fiber lines entailed. Committee Budget Meetings- Committee members scheduled Budget meetings on October 2nd starting at 3:45 for Buildings and Maintenance Committee, Public Works Committee, Personal Property Committee, and Personnel Committee. Approval of Bills for the Month: MOTION (Lenz, Martin). Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.
