MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COHOES HISTORIC PRESERVATION AND ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD MEETING HELD TUESDAY, MARCH 19, 2024 AT 8:00AM MEMBERS PRESENT: Daniele Cherniak, Chair John Frainier Tony Kusaywa ABSENT: Barbara Hildreth, Vice Chair ALSO PRESENT: Sharon Butler, Commissioner to Building & Planning Chairperson Cherniak called the March 19, 2024 meeting of the Historic Preservation and Architectural Review Board to order at 8:02AM. Roll Call; Members present; Chairperson Cherniak, ,Member Frainier, Member Kusaywa Absent: Vice Chair Hildreth CONSIDERATION OF THE FEBRUARY 20, 2024 MEETING MINUTES Chairperson Cherniak; next item is the consideration of the February 20th meeting minutes. YES NO ABSTAIN Daniele Cherniak X Barbara Hildreth ABSENT John Frainier X Tony Kusaywa X CONSIDERATION OF EXTERIOR GARAGE SIDING AND ROOF REPLACEMENT Chairperson Cherniak; on to our next item, 34-36 Hamilton Street can you tell us a little bit about what you are planning to do? Mr. Robert Johnson; I filled out a building permit about 2 to 2 ½ weeks ago, we started the work about a week after I stopped by to see how the job was going and code was there asking where the building permit was. He said the contractor sent it in as he was taking care of the permit. I ended up calling Ed in the Code office and found out that the permit was not in the office. So somewhere it got lost, so I showed him on my phone the application. Ed then let him continue the work and then later on Mic called and told him that the address falls within the historic district so you will have to have the work approved. It was then that I sent in the pictures, what was originally on there was aluminum siding that was a light mint green color. I sent in a picture of that and showed where it was falling off, it was dented and it matched nothing in the area. The roof as you can see is bad, we are going to go with the same 4” siding type design, tan which matches mostly everything in the area, a neutral color. The roof is going to be what is identical to what was on there except for the it’s going to be architectural shingles with a ridge vent on top. Other than that it just a basic job. Chairperson Cherniak; ok, so basically you’re replacing existing siding, you are not siding a previously unsided building so that makes a difference. And the shingles you are just replacing with something similar in appearance. Ok so does anyone have any questions for the applicant? Being none asked for a motion to approve the application.
