MINUTES OF THE COHOES ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS HELD IN THE COMMON COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF COHOES CITY HALL ON WEDNESDAY, April 26th, 2017 MEMBERS PRESENT: Mrs. Joyce Baranski, Vice-Chairwoman Mr. Mark Cotch Mr. Michael Briggs ALSO PRESENT: Ms. Kara McKnight, City Planner MEMBERS ABSENT: Gary Sawyer Ms. Theresa Thibodeau, Chairwoman CONSIDERATION OF THE MINUTES FROM MARCH 10TH, 2017 Acting Chairman Briggs called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm. The recording secretary to take attendance. Member Cotch moved to approve the minutes of March 22nd, 2017. Member Baranski seconded the motion, roll call was taken and the motion passed unanimously. YES NO ABSTAIN Michael Briggs X Joyce Baranski X Mark Cotch X Gary Sawyer ABSENT Theresa Thibodeau ABSENT CONSIDERATION OF A SPECIAL PERMIT FOR A POOL AT 41 LINCOLN AVENUE The applicant, Vanessa, explained that the placement of the above-ground, steal pool will be centered toward the back of the property because of the steep slope near the house and it would need a variance of six feet on either side where it meets the neighboring lots. Vanessa said that she previously spoke with her neighbors about installing the pool and they were all okay with the idea. If she were to place the pool closer to the house she would have to excavate part of the slope, which would take more time and money that she is already investing in the house that was left vacant for approximately 10 years. Vanessa is also having a licensed electrician come in to install a pump on the right-hand side of the pool. Member Briggs recommended that it might be a good idea to offset the pump so there is more space between the pool and the fence. Member Baranski motioned for the approval of the permit and Member Cotch seconded. The members voted and all were in favor so the permit was approved. Member Briggs moved to adjourn at 6:55 PM, seconded by Member Baranksi.
