MINUTES OF THE COHOES ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS HELD IN THE COMMON COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF COHOES CITY HALL ON WEDNESDAY, May 24th, 2017 MEMBERS PRESENT: Mrs. Joyce Baranski, Vice-Chairwoman Mr. Mark Cotch Mr. Michael Briggs Mr. Gary Sawyer ALSO PRESENT: Ms. Kara McKnight, City Planner MEMBERS ABSENT: Ms. Theresa Thibodeau, Chairwoman CONSIDERATION OF THE MINUTES FROM MARCH 10TH, 2017 Vice chairwoman Baranski called the meeting to order at 6:31 pm and the recording secretary to take attendance. Member Cotch moved to approve the minutes of April 26th, 2017. Member Briggs seconded the motion, roll call was taken and the motion passed unanimously. YES NO ABSTAIN Michael Briggs X Joyce Baranski X Mark Cotch X Gary Sawyer X Theresa Thibodeau ABSENT CONSIDERATION OF A LOT APPROVAL ON RESERVOIR STREET The applicant and property owner, Anthony Vaccarielli, and his associate, Jason Kress, are seeking a permissible way to manage the construction of a two family home on a triangular lot, as the Bulk and Use table does not define a way. The lot dimensions were clarified and each setback for a typical square lot were met with the exception of a non-existent rear property line. The angled side lot lines will be considered as the side setbacks and the intersection at the back of the house (where the triangle legs meet) will be considered as rear lot line point. With the previous points being established, all of the lot requirements are met. Member Sawyer mentioned that the level of the land is approximately five feet raised from the road, however Anthony explained that he has built into slopes numerous times and he would construct stepped footing into the small hill. Member Briggs motioned for the approval of the permit and Member Cotch seconded. All members were in favor of the decision.
