City Planning Committee

City Planning Committee Monday, April 15, 2024 Call to Order – 5:45 PM by Todd Schmidt. Roll Call –Committee: Todd Schmidt, Jason Lindeman and Nancy O’Brien. Also present: Susan Badtke of West Central Regional Planning, Mayor Jim Schmidt, Clerk Connie Gurtner and DPW Harland Higley. Driveway Opening Request from Mark Calmes: Mark Calmes asked the city to consider access to a 2 acre parcel in the Town of Colby using N 7th Street right of way. DPW Higley did not have any issue with authorizing the access. Motion was made by O’Brien, seconded by Lindeman to recommend to the council to allow access for a driveway to Mark Calmes off of 7th Street. Motion carried with a voice vote. Minutes from March 4, 2024: Motion was made by O’Brien, seconded by Lindeman to approve the minutes from 3-4-24 as presented. Motion carried with a voice vote. Recap of Meeting 3 Items: Susan Badtke reviewed the goals for the meeting and recapped information from the previous meeting. Agricultural & Natural Resources Element: Susan reviewed the current plan’s agricultural & natural resources element with the committee. The goals and objectives for this element were reviewed and discussed. Land Use Element: The committee looked at our current use mapping and discussed future potential use for any vacant property. Intergovernmental Cooperation Element: Different intergovernmental cooperation organizations and agreements were listed and discussed. The committee reviewed goals and objectives for the city’s intergovernmental cooperation element. Next Steps and Meeting Date: Preferred Land Use Map and the Implementation Element. The committee will meet on May 21, 2024 at 6:00 PM. Adjourn: Motion was made by Lindeman, seconded by O’Brien to adjourn at 8:20 PM. Motion carried with a voice vote. Connie Gurtner, City Clerk
