1. As there was not a quorum present, the minutes from the July 26, 2018 meeting will be
reviewed and approved at the October 25, 2018 meeting, pending a quorum.

c. GCART Fundraiser – October 29, 2018, 7:00pm-10:00pm, at Old Waldorf School
i. The fundraiser is necessary because the MOU with GCART and the City of
College Park has not yet been approved and signed. There are 150 tickets
available for the Murder Mystery Dinner and all donations are gladly accepted
towards the GCART.
4. Reminder that the November meeting falls on Thanksgiving (November 22) and the
December meeting falls a couple days after Christmas (December 27). Mr. Brennan indicated
we would discuss the combining of the November/December meetings at the October
meeting, as has been done in years past.
5. No update on the Patuxent Avenue cat colony. Ms. Cooper is no longer receiving any phone
calls as residents are dealing directly with the Humane Rescue Alliance.
6. Discussed the Committee on Committees. There is a work session scheduled for Mayor and
Council on Tuesday, October 2. The recommendation for the AWC is to dissolve the
committee and have a group of volunteers take care of the shelter and Petco. Mr. Brennan
will see if he can find out more information and send out to the committee. Committee
members are welcome to attend the work session, however, there may not be time for many
comments or questions.
7. With Hurricane Florence in recent memory, Ms. Cooper wanted to remind the committee
that plans need to be made for animal welfare: personal animals and any animals who might
be in the shelter or at Petco.
8. Next meeting is October 25, 2018 at 7pm in Davis Hall.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:30pm.
Respectfully submitted by Sheryl DeWalt, contract secretary.
