The agenda was reviewed and a motion was made by Ms. Stange to accept it. Ms. Termini seconded the motion. Motion carries 6-0-0. 2. The May 23, 2019 minutes were reviewed and a motion was made by Ms. Stange to accept the minutes as presented. Mr. Turner seconded the motion. Motion carries 6-0-0. 3. AWC Report from Ms. Cooper a. AWC Donation Account – $10,180 (includes $107.15 from Anne and Elise Kidwell-Slak and their lemonade stand) b. Adoptions i. Irie ii. 5 of Stevie’s kitten iii. Gris iv. Catchetona v. Razzle and Dazzle vi. Larry, Curly and Mo vii. Archie viii. 4 Donaldson kittens ix. Jett and Onyx x. Stormie c. Fosters/Petco i. Lady (AKA Pearl), Stevie and 1 of her kittens – foster with Ms. Rodeffer ii. Chairman Meow – foster with Ms. Stange iii. Chabi, Julian and Opal - Petco d. Shelter i. Bandit – hold pending legal issue ii. Female Dachshund – stray hold (Ms. DeWalt stated that if needed, the dachshund can be fostered at her home.) e. The Spay/Neuter grant was not awarded. 4. Municipal Scene Articles a. Spay and Neuter – September – Ms. Rodeffer b. Hazards of Halloween (candy and keeping inside) – October – Ms. Stange  c. Hazardous Human Foods – November – TBD d. Appropriate shelter – December - TBD 5. Annual Report. Ms. Cooper made minor revisions and redistributed to the committee. Ms. Stange made a motion and Ms. Rodeffer seconded to submit the AWC Annual Report to Mayor and Council. Motion carries 6-0-0. 6. Discussed two pet events for this upcoming Fiscal Year: Fall Fest and Spring Fling. The Fall Fest would include a microchip and rabies clinic. Suggested dates are November 9, 16 or 23. Ms. Cooper will confirm with a vet for attendance at the clinic. Ms. DeWalt will speak to the College Park Methodist Church about holding the clinic there. The committee can have a jar for donations, but will need to receive approval for donated pet gifts from companies, i.e., Chewy, Pet Smart, Petco, etc. 7. Other upcoming local events: a. Greenbelt Labor Day Festival, GCART at Public Safety Booth on September 1. b. College Park Day on October 5 from 12Noon-6pm. Will need AWC volunteers to set up, man the desk, and clean up. 8. The Committee on Committees recommendation will go before Mayor and Council in September. Ms. Rodeffer reviewed the current information, as read by Ms. Bellamy. The committee discussed and the following motion was made by Ms. Stange and seconded by Ms. Termini: a. Ask to have the volunteer corp stricken and insert investigate possible grant opportunities. Motion carries 6-0-0. b. Until a final decision is made by Mayor and Council, the volunteer schedule for the shelter will need to continue. New members of the committee can shadow current members to learn the routine. 9. Discussed and reviewed City Code. The City Code can be more restrictive than Prince George’s County codes, but not less restrictive. The committee discussed: a. Vicious animal ordinance b. Tetherings c. Animals in vehicles d. Define cruelty to animals e. Bring back Animal Control Board f. Farm Animals should be struck from the code g. Abandonment of animals h. Adoption program Ms. Rodeffer and Ms. Bellamy asked the committee to review the City Code and return all comments by Thursday, August 29. These will be discussed in detail at the September meeting. 10. Prince George’s County Pit Bull Ban repeal. Ms. Bellamy made a motion for the committee to recommend to Mayor and Council to support the repeal. Mr. Turner seconded. Motion carries 6-0-0. Ms. Rodeffer will work on a letter, consult with the AWC, and ensure it is sent to Mayor and Council by Monday, August 25. 11. We will celebrate Anne and Elise Kidwell-Slak at our September meeting. Ms. DeWalt will have a cake. Ms. Rodeffer will have a gift for each of the girls. Ms. Bellamy will contact, through the City Clerk’s office, and ask Councilmembers Riggs and Day to attend. The celebration will take place at 7:00pm and the business meeting will start at 7:30pm.  12. Next meeting will be September 25, 2019 at 7:30pm, location TBD.
