It was noted that Mr. Beavers has accepted a new position with the City of College Park. His replacement will more than likely be the new liaison for CBE. 1. No changes were made to the agenda. The April 23, 2018 and June 4, 2018 minutes were reviewed. There were some changes noted to the June 4, 2018 minutes. Mr. Walfield made a motion to accept the April 23, 2018 and the June 4, 2018 minutes. Ms. Oppelt seconded the motion. All in favor; no opposed. 2. Mr. Walfield made a motion to spend $1165 on a bench for the residents at Attick Towers and $1000 for 50 gator bags. Ms. Oppelt seconded the motion. All in favor; no opposed. 3. The Rain Barrel event is scheduled for July 14 from 9:00am-12:00 Noon at Davis Hall. Mr. Beavers is waiting to confirm that the City will purchase two pallets of rain barrels. Snacks will be served; Ms. DeWalt volunteered to bring the food and drink. Other brochures will be available at the seminar: clean up after your dog, tree canopy, etc. Ms. Weene, Mr. Walfield, Ms. Oppelt, Mr. Larsen and Ms. DeWalt volunteered to be at the event. 4. Ms. Oppelt will work on the permaculture sign this week. She will confer verbiage with Mr. Hew. 5. No SMART update. 6. It was noted that the Sierra Club supported the Business Recycling legislation for Prince George’s County. All County offices and agencies must recycle. Commercial locations must provide for the opportunity to recycle and to provide recycling bins. As a side note, tours of the landfill can be scheduled. 7. Ms. Oppelt has copies of all the minutes and will work on the CBE Annual Report. Prior to submitting to Mayor and Council, she will email a copy to the committee for review and comment. 8. Ms. Oppelt is working on the revision of the fence letter. She will speak to Dr. Balachandran on Thursday in regard to the revision. She will also consult Brenda Alexander for her input. 9. The Maryland Sun presentation will be scheduled for September 12, from 7:00pm- 9:00pm at City Hall – Council Chambers. Ms. Oppelt will confirm with Maryland Sun. 10. Mr. Beavers announced that there will be a tour of the Riverdale Park Station on July 12 from 6:30pm-8:00pm. It is a mixed-use development with transit orient development, bio retention, vehicle charging stations, etc. You need to pre-register online and Mr. Beavers will send the link to the committee.
