VII. 2022 Planning
Ms. Wurtzel informed the Committee this will be her last meeting and Ms. Quinones
will be the assigned staff liaison. The Committee discussed planning a virtual event on
Zoom and the following topics were discussed:
Event performers would be able to perform at any location with the use of a
computer. Ms. Quinones will need to confirm if minors need adult permission
to participate in a virtual event since it will be recorded.
The local schools usually provide artwork to be displayed during the event.
The Committee discussed the schools taking pictures of the artwork and those
pictures could be placed into a PowerPoint presentation to be displayed on
Zoom.
With having a virtual event, there will be funding remaining since majority of
the funds were used for renting a location. The Committee discussed possibly
using the funds as a scholarship that can be provided to students.
The Committee decided to have the event on a weekday since it will be a
virtual event. Ms. Wolley motioned for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
virtual event to be held on January 19, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. Second by Ms.
Chicquelo. All members in favor; no opposed.
Dr. Ticha suggested for the MLK event to have an official website. Ms. Quinones
informed the Committee that there is currently a website dedicated to the City’s MLK
event.

suggestions for a MC, event performers, panel members and an event theme.
