Call to Order
Ms. Bernache called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm. This meeting is an additional meeting called for the
purpose of reviewing grant applications.
Review of School Grant Applications
Due to concern expressed by several principals, the EAC granted extensions for the grant applications to
July 15, 2016. Applications, which were already turned in, were reviewed at this meeting. The
Committee reviewed and discussed applications from the following schools: University Park Elementary,
Hyattsville Middle, College Park Academy, Paint Branch Elementary, Greenbelt Middle and Berwyn
Heights Elementary.
After reviewing all 6 applications, Mr. Toledo made a motion to approve the applications from University
Park Elementary, Hyattsville Middle and College Park Academy and pass them along to the City Council
for consideration. The motion was seconded by Ms. Bernache. Motion approved.
Mr. Toledo made a motion that the EAC contact the remaining schools and request revisions and/or
additional information to clarify their proposals. These schools include: Greenbelt Middle, Paint Branch
Elementary and Berwyn Heights Elementary. The motion was seconded by Ms. Ten Eyck-Sanders.
Motion approved.
Additional grant applications are expected to be received from Hollywood Elementary, Cherokee Lane
Elementary, Buck Lodge Middle, High Point High, Northwestern High and Parkdale High.
New Business
Councilman Brennan shared information with the EAC via email regarding a school gardens program.
The EAC will discuss it at the next meeting.
Adjournment: Mr. Toledo made a motion to adjourn at 8:52 pm. Motion seconded by Ms. Ten Eyck-
Sanders. Meeting adjourned.
