Review of May 16 minutes. Mr. Toledo made a motion to approve as written. Second by Ms. Wilson. Minutes approved. Review of June 13 minutes. A motion to approve the minutes, with one edit, was made by Mr. Toledo. Second by Ms. Bernache. Minutes approved. Review of July 27 minutes. A motion was made to approve the minutes, with two edits, was made by Ms. Bernache. Second by Ms. Powers. Minutes approved. Essay Contest Criteria The essay contest criteria established during the April meeting was reviewed. The committee clarified that the grade of the participants will be determined by the grade they are in for the 2016-2017 school year. The “think abouts” will be listed as “Suggested Topics” and submissions must be legibly written, not typed. The contest applications will be sent out to 2016 camp attendees in August and will be due by the end of September. Summer Camp Discount/Grants from UMCP: The EAC will collect statistics to quantify the number of children they have sent to UMCP summer camps over the years, as well as the amount of money contributed. Ms. Wilson will begin a discussion with UMCP leadership to brainstorm ways to stretch the EAC dollars and provide more summer camp experiences to CP youth. A proposal to receive a break on tuition for the scholarship students will be drafted at a future EAC meeting. Real School Garden Program: The principals of Hollywood Elementary and Hyattsville Middle schools are interested in learning more about the Real School Garden Program. Ms. Higgins will pass along the information to PJ Brennan, who emailed the information to the EAC. Invitation: Ms. Bernache shared an invitation from the Greenbelt Advisory Committee for Education to collaborate on a project involving the two cities students. The College Park EAC will invite the Greenbelt AEC membership to attend their September or October meeting to brainstorm ideas. Adjournment Meeting adjourned at 8:54 pm. Motion made by Mr. Toledo and second by Ms. Wilson.
