Old Business Approval of the August Minutes The committee reviewed the August 21, 2017 meeting minutes and a minor correction was made. Ms. Mahoney made a motion to approve the minutes as corrected. Second by Ms. Day. All members were in favor. The August minutes were approved as corrected. Discuss plans for 2017 College Park Day The table schedule has been updated and only 1 member is listed at the 11:00 and 12:00 time slots. Volunteers are still needed for the 2:00 pm time slot. Ms. Ellis volunteered to help at the 3:00 time slot. Discuss plans for 2018 scholarships to pay for books for College Park residents attending UMD Mr. Toledo made a motion to table this topic for next month’s meeting. Second by Ms. Day. All members were in favor and this item is tabled until the October meeting. New Business Open Meetings Act Training Ms. Bernache has completed the online training for the Open Meetings Act and shared the training website with the committee for members who are interested in completing the training. Ms. Bernache asked committee members to let her know if anyone completes the training. Discuss January grant presentation Ms. Higgins stated it would be good to present the schools with big checks that the school can display. Ms. Higgins suggested the students be more specific on presenting how the grant money was used. The winning schools will be split between the January 9th and the January 23rd City Council sessions. At least one committee member needs to be present to introduce the schools. Pending Grants Greenbelt Middle School’s professional grant is still pending. Ms. Higgins emailed the new Principal and asked to meet. Back to School Night at Buck Lodge Ms. Mahoney stated the committee was invited to have a table at Back to School Night at Buck Lodge Middle School on September 27, 2017. Ms. Bernache will email the Principal and thank the school for the invite. Real School Gardens Ms. Bernache sent a thank you note to the Director of Real School Gardens for the presentation at the August meeting. Adjournment Ms. Bernache motioned to adjourn the meeting. Second by Ms. Day. The meeting adjourned at 8:18pm.
