Call to Order
Ms. Bernache called the meeting to order at 7:34 p.m.
Old Business
Approval of the May Meeting Minutes
The Committee reviewed the meeting minutes from the May 17, 2021 meeting.
Mr. Toledo motioned to approve the minutes as presented. Second by Ms. Bernache. 4
members in favor; 1 abstain; no opposed; 4-1-0.
Plan for Book Distribution
The Committee decided to distribute books at the College Park Food Bank and at College Park
Day. Ms. Bernache will confirm with the food bank if August 7th or August 21st will work for
the EAC to distribute books.
New Business
Literacy Lab Program
Councilmembers Mackie and Kennedy presented to the EAC a proposal to start a pilot program
within College Park to have the Literacy Lab provide high dose tutoring (3-hours/week with a
small group) at Hollywood Elementary for the upcoming school year, 2021-2022.

Mr. Toledo motioned to approve moving forward with the Literacy Lab pilot program
within the City of College Park at Hollywood Elementary for the upcoming school year.
Second by Ms. Day. All members in favor; no opposed, 5-0.
Brainstorm Additional Tutoring Ideas
Ms. Bernache asked the Committee to brainstorm additional tutoring suggestions to discuss at
the August meeting.
Next Meeting
The next scheduled meeting will be held on August 16, 2021 at 7:30 p.m.
