Approved: 101722 Minutes Education Advisory Committee (EAC) September 19, 2022 Virtual Meeting Attendees Members Present Absent David Toledo, Dist 4 X Vilay Senthep, Dist 1 X Susan Miller, Dist 1 X Dawn Powers, Dist 2 X Melissa Day, Dist 3 X Carolyn Bernache, Dist 4 X Tessie Aikara, Dist 4 X Carson Peters, Dist 4 X Daniel Levin, UMD X Also Present Carleveva Thompson, Contract Secretary Call to Order Ms. Bernache called the meeting to order at 7:45 p.m. Old Business Approval of the August Meeting Minutes The Committee reviewed the meeting minutes from the August 15, 2022, meeting. Mr. Toledo motioned to approve the minutes as presented. Second by Ms. Aikara. All members in favor; no opposed. Motion carries, 7-0-0. Update on Achievement Recognition Strategies Tabled until next meeting. Update on The Every Child Project The pilot starts October 1st and the letter was sent to the school to notify them to select students for the pilot. Students must be College Park residents to participate in the program. Update on Imagine Learning My Path Program The Committee will review more information on the program and then present the program to the City Council for approval. Remembrance for Rose Greene-Colby Ms. Bernache suggested the theme “Cherish your dreams; They will take you far to add to the book stickers. Ms. Bernache motioned to use “Cherish your dreams; They will take you far” for the book stickers that will be used for the book giveaway with the family’s approval. Second by Mr. Toledo. All members in favor, no opposed. Motion carries, 7-0-0. Update on the August 27th Book Giveaway The Committee conducted a book giveaway during the movie night held on August 27th in College Park Woods. College Park Day Ms. Powers purchased extra books to giveaway for College Park Day. Mr. Toledo will purchase pencils, bookmarks, and journals to giveaway with the books. Mr. Toledo will start a Google sign-up sheet and send to the Committee to sign up for time slots. New Business EAC School Grants Tabled for October meeting. Adjournment Ms. Bernache adjourned the meeting at 8:05 p.m.
