I. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 6:36 p.m.
II. Approval of Agenda
Mr. Toledo motioned to approve the agenda as submitted. Ms. Oarr seconded
the motion.
All were in favor. The motion passed 5-0-0
III. Approval of Minutes
a. September 12, 2016
Mr. Toledo motioned to approve the September minutes as submitted. Ms.
Oarr seconded the motion.
All were in favor. The motion passed 5-0-0
IV. Treasurer’s Report - September 2016
Ms. Fletcher reported there were no changes to the bank account and the
balance remains at $1,698.05.
V. Recent Events
a. College Park Day – 09/24/16
The skies were overcast but well attended. Ms. Fletcher has heard positive
feedback.
The College Park Aviation Museum reported 1200 guests who lined up for the
tours and the helicopters.
The City of College Park had a tent and advertised upcoming city events.
Ms. Araghi suggested the College Park Day Committee advertises the bands
more.
VI. Future Events
a. Nightlife Band – 7:00 p.m. 10/21/16 at the Moose Lodge
Ms. Fletcher reported there isn’t a flier yet but it is being promoted by College
Park Connected, the Nightlife Band website, social media and the Moose
Lodge.
You can purchase food and drink from the Moose, but entrance to the event
will be free.
b. Blues Festival – 11/05/16
There was some miscommunication as to who was supposed to supply
the Blues Festival banner for College Park Day and why it was not
displayed. It will be hung across Rhode Island Avenue as soon as
Public Works can secure the bucket truck to switch the banners. It
was suggested that the banner will be on display for a few extra days.
Ms. Araghi mentioned that she has not been able to make contact with
Miss College Park but will continue to reach out to her.
Due to Mr. Bradford’s surgery, he is unable to get the donuts from
Raulin’s Bakery in Beltsville. Staff or another Board member is
authorized to contact the bakery.
Mr. Moody’s volunteers will set up the tables and chairs.
Ellis and Mr. Toledo will be at Ritchie Coliseum at 2:00 p.m. to
decorate.
Ms. Oarr and Mrs. Pianowski are not available to help set up this year.
Mr. Moody has confirmed delivery of the stage with M-NCPPC staff.
Mr. Moody has asked what time the electrician is wanted on site
Saturday; sound check can be scheduled for 90 minutes later. The
sound company would like to bring all of the supplies early Saturday
morning but someone will have to be responsible for the equipment
since Ritchie is open 24 hours a day. Ms. Araghi will work with the
electrician and sound crew.
Mr. Ryan will look into message board set up for the event the day of
or possibly the evening before. There is now a fee to rent the sign.
Ms. Fitzsimons will make arrangement to have the ‘wavy guy’ on site
for the Festival.

Ms. Fletcher will borrow the wheel spinner from Youth and Family
Services. Ms. Araghi will send the list and Ms. Fletcher will prepare
the prize wheel.
Ms. Araghi has found a vendor that will have Maryland flag bowties
and hair bows.
Performers: The Battle of the Bands winner is Fast Eddie and the
Slowpokes. The Solo/Duo Winner is Carley Harley and Soul Roots.
They are an acoustic act. Mike Warner/Tommy Lepson. Andy T and
Nick Nixon. Nick is in the hospital and may not be able to play at the
Festival. If not, Alabama Mike or someone else that is equal to or
better.
The flyer will be ready for printing this week.
Ms. Fletcher will have the Rubbermaid bin of Blues Festival supplies
delivered on Friday.
VII. New/Other Business
a. Parkrun – funding from Recreation budget
Mr. Ryan was directed by the City Manager to find the money in the
Recreation Board budget to support the program.
b. Senior Camp
Ms. Oarr reminded the Board about the camp that is held at College Park
Woods in the spring. They offer an outdoor lunch, entertainment and Bingo.
They would like to have more volunteers for the event. It was suggested to
ask Youth and Family Services Director, Peggy Higgins for help in finding
volunteers.

IX. Adjournment
Mr. Toledo motioned to adjourn. Ms. Ellis seconded the motion. All were in
favor. The motion passed 5-0-0
