I. Call to Order
Meeting was called to order at 6:07 p.m.
II. Membership Announcements
Mark Mullauer- Appointed 11/12/2019
III. Review and Approval of Agenda
Ms. Araghi suggested adding discussion about North College Park’s Hollywood Gateway
Stage Project. Ms. Pianowski motioned to approve the agenda with the additional
discussion. Mrs. Oarr seconded the motion. None were opposed. The motion passed 6-0-
0.
IV. Review and Approval of Minutes- November 4, 2019
Ms. Araghi motioned to approve the November 4, 2019 minutes. Mrs. Pianowski seconded
the motion. None were opposed. The motion passed 6-0-0.
V. Confirmed Events - Planning and Reports:
a. Blues Festival Debrief - 11/09/2019
The Board briefly discussed:
• Approximately 350-400 patrons were in attendance, similar to last year
• Parking concerns, shortages, and future considerations such as Auxiliary Police
Officers directing patrons to alternate parking areas.
o Additional signage to direct patrons to alternate parking options
o Other events hosted at the same time as the festival impacted the availability of
parking
b. Breakfast with Santa-12/14/2019
The Board discussed the event plan, projected attendance, and logistics:
• Ms. Fletcher is awaiting an invoice from Mr. Canavan. Mrs. Hopkins will advise Mr.
Canavan to email Ms. Fletcher
• Mr. Bradford volunteered to be the back-up Santa
• Mrs. Reardon confirmed the Santa suit has been ordered
• Logistics- Arrival & Activity Times
-Board Members will arrive at 9:30 am to begin set up
• Food
-Will not be catered
-Menu items bagels, pastries, fruit (individual cream cheese packets, more plastic
bags)
-Details- shopping list
• Eric Energy (associate magician)
-Dance Side of the Gym
-10:30- 11:15 a.m. proposed time 10:15-11:00 a.m. on the, if not the show will be
shortened by 15 minutes
• Santa
-Preschool Room
-To arrive at the Firehouse by 9:45 a.m.
-To arrive at the Community Center by 10:05 a.m.
• Photos with Santa until 12:40 p.m.
(*hard stop at 12:40 p.m. preparation for reservation immediately after photos)
• Crafts will take place near the gym
• Mrs. Oar will not be in attendance to serve as Mrs. Santa.
• The board reviewed a list of the items Mrs. Greene purchased for goodie bags
Mrs. Bernache-Crocker suggested posting a chart of activities and start times
c. MLK – 01/11/2020
The Recreation Board is invited to attend
d. Family Bowling-1/26/2020
The Board briefly discussed:
• A promotional flyer will be created by the Communications Department
• Event signage- pricing, use of city promotional items (table cloth & table tent)
-Mrs. Quinones will provide a table cloth
• Final Payment pending/to be confirmed
e. Bunny Brunch
The Board discussed the menu, logistics, Mr. Mullauer will be the new bunny.
f. Good Neighbor Day – 04/04/2020
The Recreation Board is invited to attend
g. City’s Diamond (75th) Anniversary – 06/06/2020 (bandwagon reserved)
Highlighted points and ideas included:
• Using an idea board to solicit feedback
• Historic photo slide show
-Soliciting photos from residents via Facebook
• Antique car show
• Featuring local College Park band(s): Paint Branch Creek
• Famous College Park (former) Residents and UMD Alumni- Jim Henson, Gail King
• Honoring all former Council members and their spouses
• Marketing via Social Media and the Municipal Scene
h. Fourth of July – 07/04/2020 (bandwagon reserved; confirm Nightlife Band)
i. College Park Day – 10/10/2020

j. North College Park Hollywood Gateway Stage Project
Ms. Araghi shared feedback about the North College Park Hollywood Gateway Stage
Project. Ms. Araghi expressed her desire to offer formal feedback for considerations
to ensure that the stage is functional and accessible to different forms of traffic (foot,
bike, and automobiles). Mrs. Quinones shared information about the project from the
City’s website and encouraged sharing feedback with the Planning Department.

VII. Communication Announcements
Ms. Wurtzel was contacted by Susan Jones, of Berwyn Heights to discuss partnership to
host musical concert events.

IX. Adjournment
Mrs. Araghi motioned to adjourn the meeting. Mrs. Pianowski seconded the motion. All
were in favor. The motion passed 6-0-0.
The meeting adjourned at 7:19 pm.
