Christina Toy X Also Present: City Staff: Robert Ryan, Public Services Director (departed at 6:56 p.m.) Ryna Quinones, Communications Coordinator Gabi Wurtzel, Event Planner Joi Woods, Contract Secretary Prince George’s County Parks and Recreation: Kathleen Reardon, Assistant Facility Director Eric Smith, Regional Manager I. Call to Order Meeting was called to order at 6:03 p.m. II. Review and Approval of Agenda Ms. Hopkins motioned to approve the agenda. Ms. Araghi suggested adding discussion about College Park Blues Festival to the agenda. Ms. Pianowski motioned to approve the agenda with added discussion. The motion passed 10-0-0. III. Review and Approval of Minutes- December 2, 2019 Ms. Araghi motioned to approve the December 2, 2019 minutes. Mr. Mullauer seconded the motion. None were opposed. The motion passed 10-0-0. IV. Organizational Changes: Staff Liaison, Policies and Ethics Gabi Wurtzel, City Event Planner will assume the role of Staff Liaison effective February 2020. Mr. Somers, City Manager will attend the next meeting to offer additional information about city Policies and Ethics. V. Events - Reporting and Planning: 1 a. Breakfast with Santa-12/14/2019 The Board debriefed about event highlights: • Event was well attended and well received o 165 bags distributed, remaining bags were left at the Community Center o Board Members received positive feedback from families about the scheduling of events • Menu items and budgeting for catering for future consideration • Increasing the number of infant/Toddler goodie bags was noted for future events 1-month – 5 years) • Increasing the number of rubber Santa ducks b. MLK – 01/11/2020 The Recreation Board is invited to attend c. Family Bowling-1/26/2020 The Board briefly discussed: • A promotional flyer was created by the Communications Department • Wrist bands- remaining wrist bands from last year and the Santa event for use • Mr. Mullauer and Mrs. Miller will attend to greet attendees and collect fees Facebook attendance indicated approximately 300 people have indicated interest and/or plan to attend • Event signage, pricing, and logistics • Deposit has been confirmed and the balance paid d. Bunny Brunch The Board discussed logistics, Mr. Mullauer will be the new bunny e. Good Neighbor Day – 04/04/2020 The Recreation Board is invited to attend f. Maryland Day-4/25/2020 The Recreation Board is invited to attend g. City’s Diamond (75th) Anniversary – 06/06/2020 (bandwagon reserved) Planning is underway, additional updated will be provided during the next meeting. h. Fourth of July – 07/04/2020 Currently the location is unconfirmed, additional updates are forthcoming i. College Park Day – 10/10/2020 Discussion postponed VI. Proposed Events a. Ice Cream Social/Field Day- -event to be incorporated into the Diamond (75th) Anniversary b. Collaborations with Berwyn Heights Mrs. Wurtzel was contacted by Susan Jones, of Berwyn Heights to discuss partnership to host musical concert events. c. Collaborations with PG Parks Mrs. Toy proposed considering hosting events including a winter market at the Aviation Museum during the second week of December 2020. 2 d. Blues festival • event Considerations for 2020 • Venue(s) & logistics • Reserving the stage from PG Parks • Date is pending, discussion postponed until the next meeting VII. Next Meeting: Monday, February 3, 2020 VIII. Adjournment Mrs. Oarr motioned to adjourn the meeting. Mrs. Pianowski seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion passed 10-0-0. The meeting adjourned at 7:03 pm. 3
