Call to Order Meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m. II. Review and Approval of Agenda Jane Hopkins motioned to approve the agenda. Mark Mullauer seconded the motion. All were in favor. None were opposed. The motion passed. I. Review and Approval of March 2, 2020 Minutes Jane Hopkins motioned to approve the March 2, 2020 Minutes. Mark Mullauer seconded the motion. All were in favor. None were opposed. The motion passed. II. Election of Chair The board briefly discussed electing a new Board Chair or Board Co-chair. Electing a new chair or co-chair has been postponed to allow the opportunity to recruit additional members for the Recreation Board and to allow time for consideration from the board’s current members. III. Status of City Events & COVID-19 Gabi Wurtzel recited the current COVID-19 guidelines per Prince George's County Health Office Directive and Order. As of March 2, 2021 Gatherings are limited to no more than 1 person or family for every 200 square feet of living area of a residence, or 25 people outside, or 10 people inside, whichever is less. Masks are required at gatherings both indoors and outside. Social distancing of at least 6 feet is required except among residents of the same household. IV. Mission and Role of the Recreation Board The board discussed its current mission and role and possible modifications, noted points included: 1   Mayor Wojahn opened the floor for feedback about the board’s capacity. He suggested City staff draft a plan of potential events and activities for further review and recommendations by the board.  Providing perspective and guidance as a community member on decision making about community events and field use  Plans for the Duvall Field project are underway, Mayor Wojahn shared the link to city’s website about the project.  Possibilities for the Board to serve as a Volunteer Network to support and facilitate events The board also discussed conducting a reflective review of the current mission statement. Revisions will be drafted by city staff and forwarded to the board for review, comments, revisions, and final consensus. V. Moving Forward The board discussed improving collaborations and communication with the Communication Department to host events. The intent is to ensure a symbiotic balance among city event staff and board members, gain input from community members and represent their interests. VI. Spring Events & Future Event Ideas A. Spring Event Ideas The board discussed non-gathering spring event ideas to allow for citywide participation and maintain compliance with county COVID-19 event guidelines and restrictions.  Scavenger hunt(s) o Residents submit photographs of items found throughout the city o Historic scavenger hunt(s) inclusive of historic city facts and landmarks Gabi Wurtzel will draft a plan for a spring Scavenger hunt for review and feedback from the board.  Bike event(s)  Virtual Events o Topics including self-care, community awareness, workshops on using virtual platforms were discussed. o Virtual group cooking sessions -Residents share recipes & rotate leading the group in a virtual cooking session each month. The Recreation Board would distribute ingredients. o Virtual Self-Care -Speakers and subject matter experts to support residents in maintaining mental health and self-care -Ryna Quinones noted upcoming self-care related events hosted by the Department of Child and Family Services in honor of Mental Health Awareness month. B. Future Event Ideas 2  The board discussed partnering with local restaurants and food truck vendors to host outdoor events. Event planning would include consideration of COVID-19 restrictions and the contingency of changing restrictions.  Food Truck Fridays  Movie Night –or host on Duvall Field or at Hollywood Park  Neighborhood decorating contest(s)  Kite Festival Jane Hopkins suggested tracking changing COVID-19 restrictions and baseline event planning ahead so that in the event that restrictions are lifted, events can be easily executed. VII. Other Business No Discussion held VIII. Meeting Schedule & Next Meeting A. The board discussed resuming meetings on the first Monday of each month beginning at 7:00 p.m. B. Next Meeting: Monday, April 5, 2021 IX. Adjournment Jane Hopkins motioned to adjourn the meeting. Angel Frangos seconded the motion. All were in favor. The motion passed.
