I. Call to Order
Ms. Gross called the meeting to order at 6:07 p.m.
II. Announcements
a. Ruth Murphy submitted her application to become new commissioner.
b. Death of Committee member Angela Bass.
c. Status update on Historic Preservation – The County hearing is scheduled on
March 12, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. in person at the Wayne K. Curry Administrative
Building.

III. Review and Approval of January Meeting Minutes
The Commission reviewed the meeting minutes of the January 23, 2024, meeting and no
edits were made.
Ms. Brown motioned to approve the minutes. Second by Mr. Sellers, All members in
favor; no opposed. Motion carries 10-0-0.
IV. Commission Meeting Dates
Committee meetings are scheduled on the second Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of
each month and the Commission meeting is scheduled on the third Tuesday of each month.
For April 9th, the Community Engagement committee meeting is scheduled 5:00-6:30 p.m.
and the Commission meeting will follow after.
V. Commission Events
a. March 19 – book club and virtual discussion
b. April 2 – Men of Lakeland and their stories
c. April 16 – Mindy Fullilove Small Event for Lakelanders (Embry AME)
d. April16 – Book club event on Root Shock
e. April 17 – Mindy Fullilove at the Washington Brazilian 7th Day Adventist
f. April 30 - book club event
g. May 14 - Narrative House on the case of reparations
h. May 18 – Panel on Reparative Action, 7:30 p.m. at Embry AME Church
i. July 27 – Shadows of Lakeland at the Clarice

a. Request for Proposals - Researcher for the Restorative Justice Commission
b. Request for renaming of MNCPPC sites:

Ms. Gross asked the Commission for a motion to provide a short report to the Mayor and
Council at tonight’s Council meeting.
Mr. Fellows motioned for Ms. Gross to make a short report to Mayor and Council at
tonight’s Council meeting. Second by Ms. Alcaniz. All members in favor; no opposed.
Motion carries, 10-0-0.
VII. Adjournment
Mr. Fellows motioned to adjourn the meeting. Second by Ms. Alcaniz. All members
in favor; no opposed. Motion carries, 10-0-0.
The meeting adjourned at 6:40 p.m.
