1. Call the meeting to order.
Mr. Gomoljak called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m.
2. New Business
A. Chick-fil-A
Committee Members engaged in discussion about creating a positive relationship with Chick-
fil-A, a new business neighbor of the Veteran’s Memorial.
Prince George’s County makes the final decision; College Park conveys the city’s needs
and wants
Creating terms and conditions related to shared parking lot usage and a water sub-
meter to track the amount of water used at the Memorial. The city of College Park pays
for the percentage of water used.
B. Veterans Memorial Plaques
Mr. Stumpff is looking into the purchase of concrete plaques for the Memorial. He is
currently seeking a company who can make, install, and maintain the plaques
The Plaques are approximately $2,000 each; Price quotes are in progress
Mr. Stumpff will provide an update including costs at next meeting where the Committee
can vote
The Committee also discussed:
o Hosting a public Ceremony to dedicate the new plaques on Memorial Day 2018
o Updating the Dedication plaque- the Committee decided not to make any changes to
the Dedication plaque
C. Veterans Memorial Day Ceremony
Committee members engaged in discussion about details and logistics for the Veterans
Memorial Day Ceremony.
Ceremony will be the same as last year
Mr. Gomoljak will put out a notice to participate, so that residents can share photos to
honor their loved ones who served in US wars and conflicts and attend the event.
Mr. Gomoljak will also contact other members of the committee, Tom and Doris Davis to
secure participation of ceremony performers including a MC to ring the bell, a singer for the
National Anthem, and a musician to play Taps.
Mrs. Zito will contact the Scouts
An electronic display will be used on Duval Field to promote the event pending approval
from
The Mayor and City Council.
Mrs. Zito will work on gift ideas photos and/or planting. Planting gifts include Bay and
Rosemary, Bay represents valor and victory, Rosemary represents gratitude and
remembrance. An additional gift Idea to incorporate historic Veterans Memorial Photos
was also discussed.
3. Adjournment
Mr. Gomoljak adjourned the meeting at 7:34 p.m.
