Call to Order Mary Cook called The meeting to order at 7:04 pm. II. Veteran’s Day Ceremony, November 11, 2020. A. Ceremonial Wreaths  Mr. Davis has secured a wreath will be provided by The American Legion Auxiliary, Yvette Allen, and Joe Ruth.  Invitation to Mayor Wojahn to present the City Wreath. Mary Cook will invite to Mayor Wojahn.  Closing Ceremony: Distribution and reading of the words Taps instead of playing music. B. Signage- in progress  Lisa Fischer is partnering with Ryna Quinones Communications and Events Manager to create a graphic for event advertising.  Lisa Fischer has inquired about collaborate with the university to honor Veterans. Tom Davis recommended contacting the Terp Vets organization.  Lamppost signage is the first preference, yard signs is the next option.  50-yard signs to be purchased and used perpetuity  The committee has allotted $250-$300 for signage.  Lisa Fischer will forward a proof of the sign before they are ordered and provide email updates to the committee. Tom Davis made a motion to purchase signage not to exceed $225 after the proof has been approved by the committee. The committee held additional discussion about costs and quantity. Joe Ruth made a motion to purchase signage not to exceed $300 after the proof has been approved by the committee. Tom Davis seconded the motion. All were in favor. None were opposed. The motion passed.  Banners will not be used for the Veteran’s Day Ceremony; they will be reconsidered for the Memorial Day Ceremony.  Mary Cook contacted the local Boy Scout Troop to film the ceremony to be aired on the city’s public access channel. Livestreaming of the ceremony cannot occur due to Wi-Fi limitations. Lisa Fischer will partner with the videographer to edit the footage. C. Participation & Advertising  The number of participants is limited to maintain compliance with COVID-19 gathering restrictions. o Currently (11) people are estimated to be present, the Count is inclusive of the Mayor, Committee members (4-5), Boy Scouts (1-2), The Color Guard, and Ivy Christophers. o Inviting resident celebration by displaying the American Flag in honor of Veterans Yvette Allen will draft advertising for residents and provide a draft to committee for approval before advertising to the public. Mary Cook will invite Mayor Wojahn to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and retrieve the flag. D. Order of Ceremony  Introductions and Recognition  Flag presentation – Color Guard American Legion  Opening Prayer  Pledge of Allegiance (Mayor Wojahn)  Flag Retrieval  Wreath Presentation and Collection  Taps (Reading)  Closing Prayer  Lisa Fischer has purchased flag masks to honor the event, distinguish committee members among the public, and maintain COVID-19 precautions. Mary Cook will draft the Order of Ceremony. III. Approval of October 7, 2020 Minutes Tom Davis made a motion to approve the minutes from October 7, 2020. Mary Cook noted corrections. Tom Davis amended motion to approve the October 7, 2020 Minutes as amendment. Joe Ruth seconded the motion. All were in favor. None were opposed. The motion passed. IV. Meeting Adjournment Tom Davis made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Joe Ruth seconded the motion. All were in favor. None were opposed. The motion passed. The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
