RV/VEHICLE PARKING & STORAGE STUDY GROUP Meeting CITY HALL – 1840 SECOND STREET AUGUST 22, 2012, 6:00 P.M. STUDY GROUP ATTENDEES: Casey Wheeler Cheryl Young Ken Weiland Nell Harrison Ron Adelman Helen Johnson OTHER ATTENDEES: Joe & Gunta Turner, Columbia City MEETING STARTED: Meeting started at 6:02 p.m. MEETING DISCUSSION: The committee members discussed the concerning topics from the last meeting, which included streamlining and speeding up the enforcement process especially with repeat offenders who know the process, Resident Joe Turner presented a map that outlined how Pendleton dealt with this issue. Mr. Turner is a former resident of Pendleton. One idea presented in his drawing was the requirement of keeping a visual of the front door for emergency services. The general consensus of the group was to not allow vehicles, etc. in the right-of-way. A permit should be required for the parking of more than 72 hours in the developed right of way. Owners should be responsible to keep and maintain their own property on their own property or use a storage unit or facility located off the property to keep from the appearance of too many vehicles. It was discussed that with the current economic times these changes might cause hardships, as there would be a potential need for off site storage. The group strongly felt the need to have a more “civilized” looking community. ADJOURNMENT: Meeting adjourned at approximately 7:00 p.m.
