The City of Columbia City In Columbia County on the Columbia River Hazard Mitigation Planning Group Meeting Minutes – August 5, 2013 - 6:00 p.m. City Hall, 1840 Second Street Columbia City, Oregon 97018 Members Present: Leahnette Rivers, City Administrator/Recorder Casey Wheeler, City Council Member Micah Rogers, Public Works Superintendant Michael McGlothlin, Chief of Police Lorne Clark, Plant Manager, Dyno Nobel M. Gregg Bailey, Sr. Health & Safety Representative, Dyno Nobel Gary Hudson, Citizen Member Meeting called to order at 6:05 pm Topics: Continued discussion took place in order to review plans and update on coordination progress of Emergency Management Fair. Casey Wheeler updated community outreach, education, and promotion efforts by conducting announcement of “Save the date” information planned for City Newsletter. Discussion also took place regarding Facebook information updating community in regards to fair event. Casey Wheeler had no further update regarding stakeholder identification and sponsoring partnership(s) – awaiting update from Kelly Niles. Anne Parrot provided e-mail update to team due to projected absence from monthly meeting. Contact made with HAM radio operators and St. Helens CERT regarding participation. Also confirmed Red Cross and Columbia County Emergency Management participation in the event. Requested to have Red Cross 1 focus on shelter-in-place endeavors and Emergency Management to focus on general emergency preparedness issues. Chief McGlothlin briefed that return calls were pending from SHHS student civic groups and local Boy/Girl Scout organizations in regards to volunteer operations. Lorne Clark updated efforts in regards to fair topics and points of interest by confirming fair topics to include hamburger/hotdog cookout, shelter in place demonstrations to be conducted by Red Cross personnel, general emergency preparedness to be conducted by Emergency Management personnel, and cell phone/land line CAN registration efforts to be conducted by City Staff. Lorne Clark also confirmed Dyno Nobel to sponsor the hamburger/hotdog meal. Micah Rogers confirmed that Columbia City Public Works personnel are able to assist with other volunteers – Boy/Girl Scouts and local high school civic organization to be canvassed. Lorne Clark also confirmed that Dyno Nobel will assist with sponsorship of utility give-a-way event. The planning group tabled further discussion regarding the annual review and update of the Hazard Mitigation Plan, Goals, Action Items, and Mitigation Action Plan until September 2013 meeting. Other business: Discussion led by Leahnette Rivers in regards to grant award to review and update Columbia City Emergency Operations Plan. The planning group scheduled next team meeting to Monday September 9, 2013. Meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m. 2
