JANUARY 26, 2016 - 5:00 P.M.
CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS
Present:
Sally Ann Marson, Chair
Nell Harrison, Committee Member
Kathleen Devlin, Committee Member
Jack Hruska, Committee Member
Leahnette Rivers, City Administrator/Recorder
Veterans Park: There are lots of branches and sticks laying around that need to be cleaned
up, the garden beds need to be cleaned out, and the planting circles should be expanded
around the light fixtures. We need to decide what type of border material to use to separate the
planting areas from the lawn. Leahnette will have the work crew come in for a few days in
February.
We received a $2,000 grant from the Columbia County Cultural Coalition to help pay for the
fourth veteran wall panel and the concrete aprons at the base of each monument. We'll
complete the work prior to the Memorial Day ceremony.
The Committee created a tentative program for this year's event, and Leahnette will make the
necessary contacts and report back at the next meeting.
Nell said the Garden Club will schedule a work day in to clean up the rose garden area.
Harvard Park: Lots of debris in the park from the storm that needs to be cleaned up. The roof
over the Lewis and Clark display needs to be repaired and the park signs and benches need to
be cleaned. It's too early to power wash, but Leahnette will put the task on the list for late
spring. The wood benches need to be resealed. The suckers need to be removed from the
stumps, and then we should kill the stumps.
Datis Park: Helen is working on getting the Datis informational sign replaced.
Ruth Rose Richardson Park: Nell will ask Garden Club members to schedule a day to direct
the work crew with regard to pruning and clean up activities in the park during the coming
1
months.
Adjournment/Next Meeting: The Committee will meet again in February. Meeting adjourned
5:53 p.m.
