The City of Columbia City In Columbia County on the Columbia River Hazard Mitigation Planning Group Meeting Minutes – November 27, 2017 - 6:00 p.m. City Hall, 1840 Second Street Columbia City, Oregon 97018 Members Present: Kelly Niles, Planning Group Leader Karli Ebert, Council Representative Dan McGraw, Citizen Member Gary Hudson, Citizen Member Frank Hupp, Citizen Member Anne Parrott, the Public Health Foundation of Columbia County Steve Pegram, Director of Columbia County Emergency Management Michael McGlothlin, Chief of Police Meeting called to order at 6:01 pm Topics: Minutes of the Hazard Mitigation Planning Group’s October 23, 2017 meeting were approved unanimously, after being so moved by Frank Hupp and Anne Parrott respectively. Discussion took place regarding the after action review the 2017 Prepare Fair. The following topics were discussed: 1. Logistics: Kelly Niles discussed several areas where marketing and messaging for the Prepare Fair could be improved. Increased focus with emergency preparedness information to citizens via the City Newsletter was also discussed. 2. Stakeholders/participants: several new potential participants were identified and should be recruited within an appropriate time frame specific to the Prepare Fair. These included “Wally Wise Guy” and Shelter in Place 1  training information out of Morrow County Oregon, the addition of the local Oregon National Guard Unit, the Overland Emergency Response Network, the Oregon State Fire Marshall’s Office, Columbia County Roads Department under the instruction of Lonnie Welter, Citizen Corps, and activities specific to child preparedness. Steve Pegram briefed the planning group on specific information pertaining to the latest round of the FY2018 State Homeland Security Grant Program. Grant parameters remain the same and Columbia City will benefit from shared access equipment. Discussion took place regarding the review of both the Hazard Mitigation and Emergency Operations plans. With the last review/revisions taking place in 2014, the planning group is on track with the review process. Next reviews of these documents will be completed within the 2018 calendar year. Next meeting is set for Monday January 22, 2018 at 6:00 pm in the Columbia City Council Chambers. Adjourned at 7:01 pm. 2
