Introduction of pool staff – 2015
Aquatic Center Manager Loren Glasbrenner introduced the Head Lifeguards to the Board for 2015 – Abe Glasbrenner
(7th Year), Kayla Hasey (5th Year) and AnnaMarie Green (4th Year). They have a wealth of experience at the CAAC and are
glad to have been put in their roles. The plan for the CAAC Advisory Board meetings for the summer is to bring in some
of the staff at each meeting, starting with the Head Lifeguards.
Report of CAAC Management Structure
Glasbrenner reported that beginning July 1, he would be working as the new Principal for the Columbus Middle School.
After discussion with City Administrator Vander Sanden, a plan was developed for the management of the pool for the
remainder of the summer, with Loren still performing critical duties for the facility, but on an hourly, part-time basis.
The discussion moved to how difficult decisions will be handled should they arise and plans for the pool following the
season.
Reports from Staff
Glasbrenner talked about a decent beginning to the pool season, with mixed results on weather being a factor. Patrons
have liked the new slide and the water usage has been down, which is good to keep costs down. Vander Sanden and
Glasbrenner said this may be a result of the liquid pool cover but Public Works did a good job of sealing up cracks before
the season as well. Glasbrenner reported that the annual Mack Jensen swimming invite was a great success, with
compliments from out of town coaches on how the event was run. The event raised a good amount of money which
proceeds go toward the ‘Cudas swim team, the band, and a scholarship in Mack’s name. There are two more home
meets this season. Glasbrenner credited the Columbus OddFellows for their help in volunteering for the event.
Roberts reminded the group of the CAAC, Inc. fundraiser coming up on July 18th at the pool. Tickets are $35 each, or
$600 per table. It is a great event and funds raised will be used for a new public address system for the pool.
2015 Budget to Date
The Board reviewed the 2015 CAAC Budget-to-date. The revenue numbers looked about normal, while the expense side
numbers were lower than normal, which is good. Rehfeldt asked whether some year by year comparisons could be
provided at the next meeting.
Motion by Rehfeldt, second by Roberts to adjourn at 6:50 pm.
Respectfully submitted:
City Administrator Patrick Vander Sanden, Secretary
