COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE - SPECIAL MEETING - 2019 BUDGET
NOVEMBER 12, 2018 - 6:00 P.M.
COLUMBUS CITY HALL
MINUTES
1. Roll Call: Present: Mayor Thom, Clark, Hendrickson, Millar, Reid, Traxler; City
Administrator Vander Sanden, Finance Director Manley, Interim City Clerk Goebel,
interested citizens and the media. Absent: Theilen.
2. Notice of Open Meeting: Noted.
3. Approve Agenda: Motion by Millar, second by Thom to approve. Carried voice
vote.
4. Review of changes to proposed 2019 City Budget: Manley & Vander Sanden
reviewed changes/updates to the proposed 2019 budget including cover-over
changes, budget changes, and debt service.
5. Council workshop session on proposed 2019 City Budget - review of remaining
Funds previously not covered in prior workshops: Discussion on capital projects
including storm water & building maintenance at Police Dept; recycling center;
bucket truck; Senior Center roof.
6. Review of any other items relative to the 2019 City Budget: discussion of park
and athletic fields, repair current bike paths; streets and sidewalk program.
7. Action or schedule additional meetings for 2019 City Budget: Hold public hearing
for 2019 Budget on November 20, 2018 but wait to take action as more items
needs to be discussed.
8. Convene to closed session pursuant to §19.85(1)(c) considering employment,
promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data for any public
employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises
responsibility (2019 employee wages) Motion by Clark, second by Theilen to
convene to closed session pursuant to §19.85(1)(c) considering employment,
promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data for any public
employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises
responsibility (2019 employee wages) at 8:56 pm. Roll call vote unanimous.
Reconvene to open session on a unanimous roll call vote at 10:22 pm.
9. Adjourn: Motion by Clark, second by Millar to adjourn at 10:22 pm. Carried voice
vote.
