Phase 1 includes any improvements that need to be completed in the next 6 to 12 months. The primary focus should be to plant the buffer strip, butterfly garden and grassy areas around the garden. The Phase 2 developments are items that can be completed as the park is developed. Staff has shared with site plan and phasing plan with Patrick Vander Sanden of the Oddfellows. To date I have not received any comments. Remember, we would need to either drag/roll the field first as it is just a tilled farm field right now and if we planted it as is we would never be able to mow it. Not sure if the odd fellows have access to any bigger equipment? Maybe the farmer that was farming this field would help out? We would also need to cover the seed with straw or something similar to help prevent a washout. We could use matting but that is $34/roll and we would need about 100 rolls. So that’s pretty well out of the question. I will talk with my staff to see if they have other ideas. Once everything is completed there will be approximately 2 acres to mow at the park. This doesn’t include the area to the south of the driveway that the WWTP mows now.
