Call To Order/Roll Call 4:00 PM A regular meeting of the Citizens Public Safety Advisory Board was called to order by Vice Chair Tim Stewart on April 27, 2023, at 4:05 PM. A motion was made by Vice Chair Stewart, seconded by Member Roxanne Nice, to excuse those members not present. VOTE: 7- Aye, 3 - Excused Members, Jennie Loveridge, Cynthia Butler, and Chair, Dave Bierwiler. Present 7 - Board Member Rodrigo Luevano, Board Member Gavin Strickland, Board Member Tim Stewart, Board Member Scott Hefty, Board Member Roxanne Nice, Board Member Scott Rose, and Board Member Mark Chadwick Excused 3 - Board Member David Bierweiler, Board Member Jennie Loveridge, and Board Member Cynthia Butler Absent 1 - Board Member Jeffrey Pardue 2. Approval of Minutes This was approved 3. 2023 Work plan/ Goals - A $500 donation was made to the Ralston House in support of their 2023 Pinwheel Garden Event recognizing April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. 100 pinwheels were delivered to the Police Department and put on display at the Civic Center. - Color of Polo Shirts for Board Members; topic moved to May meeting. - Deputy Chief Greg Sadar gave a brief overview of event and ensured the Board that a safety plan is being worked on. Vice Chair Stewart plans on manning the Citizens Public Safety Advisory Board table at the event and will be handing out Public Service Announcements (PSA) and Tootsie Rolls to community members. Board Members Hefty and Chadwick will also attend event on behalf of the Veterans Commission. Commerce City Page 1 Citizens Public Safety Advisory Meeting Minutes - Final April 27, 2023 Board 5. Status of Cynthia Butler - Board member Butler resigned from her position as board member via email to the Executive Administrative Supervisor Jodell, Chair Bierwiler and Vice Chair Stewart on April 27, 2023. 6. Short presentation and overview from a Division Commander - Special Operations Commander Dave Mowery provided an overview of his roles and responsibilities. He went on to briefly share a new project that he is responsible for developing a community response team to address quality of life issues by visiting specific areas in the community that need to be addressed. 7. National Neighborhood Watch - Commander Mowery informed the Board of the upcoming registration process for the 2023 National Night Out Event scheduled for Tuesday, August 1, 2023. In addition, a discussion ensued about Neighborhood Watch (NW) Groups and how to obtain details of starting a NW group. Information/ material will be supplied to Board by PD personnel. 8. Status of PIO position - Due to the next Police Academy starting in a couple of months, the need to recruit and hire Police Cadets has taken priority over hiring a PIO. 9. New Business - Department updates regarding case reports, fatal crashes and DUI enforcement was discussed. 10.
