Call to Order/Roll Call A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Commerce City was called to order by Mayor Ford on Monday, August 22, 2016, at 3:05 PM. A motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Bullock, seconded by Council Member Amador, to excuse Council Member Teter and Council Member Diaz from this meeting. VOTE: 7 aye, 2 excused (Teter, Diaz) Present: 7 - Mayor Sean Ford , Council Member Jadie Carson, Mayor Pro Tem René Bullock, Council Member Crystal Elliott, Council Member Jason McEldowney, Council Member Steven J. Douglas and Council Member Andrew Amador Excused: 2 - Council Member Rick A. Teter and Council Member Paolo Diaz 2. Consent Agenda A motion was made by Council Member McEldowney, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Bullock, to approve the consent agenda as presented. ROLL CALL VOTE: Aye: 7- Mayor Ford, Council Member Carson, Mayor Pro Tem Bullock, Council Member Elliott, Council Member McEldowney, Council Member Douglas and Council Member Amador Excused: 2- Council Member Teter and Council Member Diaz Res 2016-33 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR HIGHWAY 2 WIDENING PROJECT 3. Resolutions Res 2016-100 RESOLUTION APPROVING AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR NEW RECREATION CENTER AND INFRASTRUCTURE CONSTRUCTION SERVICES (WORK PACKAGE A) A motion was made by Council Member McEldowney, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Bullock, that this resolution be adopted. Douglas and Council Member Andrew Amador Excused: 1 - Council Member Paolo Diaz 16-40 An executive session pursuant to C.R.S. 24-6-402(4)(e) for the purpose of instructing negotiators relative to City Attorney Recruitment A motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Bullock, seconded by Council Member Douglas, to enter into executive session, pursuant to CRS 24-6-402(4)(e) for the purpose of determining positions and strategy for negotiations and instructing negotiators regarding the position of city attorney. VOTE: Aye: 8- Mayor Ford, Council Member Carson, Council Member Teter, Mayor Pro Tem Bullock, Council Member Elliott, Council Member McEldowney, Council Member Douglas and Council Member Amador Excused: 1- Council Member Diaz 5. Adjourn Council reconvened the special meeting at 5:30 pm. Mayor Ford noted that Council Member Diaz arrived during the executive session. A motion was made by Council Member McEldowney, seconded by Council Member Teter, to instruct the city manager and Mayor Ford to work on contract negotiations with Interim City Attorney Robert Sheesley for full appointment as city attorney. VOTE: Unanimous; all present affirmed The meeting adjourned at 5:33 pm. In accord with the city charter, the interim city attorney read the title to all ordinances and resolutions adopted by Council at this meeting.
