Call to Order/Roll Call A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Commerce City was called to order by Mayor Huseman on June 29, 2022, at 5:30 PM. A motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Allen-Thomas, seconded by Council Member Madera, to excuse members not present. VOTE: 7 - Aye, 2 - Excused (Ford, Grimes) 2. Administrative Council Business 22-119 Motion to set the meeting for the discussion on metropolitan districts to July 25, 2022 A motion was made by Council Member Madera, seconded by Council Member Noble, to schedule the meeting for the discussion on metropolitan districts for July 25, 2022. VOTE: Aye: 7- Mayor Huseman, Mayor Pro Tem Allen-Thomas, Council Member Madera, Council Member Davis, Council Member Noble, Council Member Hurst and Council Member Douglas Excused: 2- Council Member Grimes and Council Member Ford 3. Executive Session 22-118 An executive session pursuant to C.R.S. § 24-6-402(4)(b) for the purpose of receiving legal advice with regard to joining a lawsuit against the State of Colorado challenging the lawfulness of House Bill 22-1024 which prohibits the City from collecting taxes on construction materials for certain construction projects. A motion was made by Council Member Madera, seconded by Council Member Hurst, to join the lawsuit against the State of Colorado with the City of Denver and other municipalities challenging the lawfulness of House Bill 22-1024. VOTE: 7 - Aye, 2 - Excused (Ford, Grimes) A motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Allen-Thomas, seconded by Council Member Hurst, to enter into an executive session pursuant to C.R.S. § 24-6-402(4)(b) for the purpose of receiving legal advice with regard to joining a lawsuit against the State of Colorado challenging the lawfulness of House Bill Commerce City Page 1 City Council Meeting Minutes - Final June 29, 2022 22-1024 which prohibits the City from collecting taxes on construction materials for certain construction projects.
