Call To Order/Roll Call Present: Jacob Wilson, Cathleen Teter , Susan Carabajal, Ed Hanson, Kristi Douglas, Bryan Draxten, Debra Bullock, Heidi McNeely, Jadie Carson, David Soucie Absent: Brian Connor, Crystal Elliott , Heather LaCrue 2. Regular Business Items o Approval of Minutes 1st motion by Kristi 2nd motion by Deb Motion approved o Financial Update 1st motion by Kristi with edits 2nd motion by Susan Motion approved o Complete Outside Volunteer Hours o Welcome new members or guests New member, Cathleen introduced herself and shared a bit about why they joined cultural council. 3. Committee Reports and Discussion o Music in the Park Debrief of concert from last week • Great participation by membership • Pioneer Park set up: move tables closer • Board members walking around so that event attendees could fill out surveys worked well • Blankets that were donated by Children’s Hospital were a great giveaway Planning for upcoming concerts • Ice and cooler with water will be brought by René and Debra • Susan will check-in with band for this Thursday • We should have 2 cultural council tables for Southlawn Park • An announcement should be made to turn in surveys • Heidi got $25 gift card for King Soopers. McDonalds and Subway are tentative. Potential donations for next year: Dions, Target • Soliciting of sponsorships should be started for 2018 as soon as this concert series ends • Heidi will get key for bathrooms at Southlawn for upcoming concert • Perhaps limit food trucks so that vendor’s earnings aren’t so limited. o Aug 10 Community Outreach Daniela will order more giveaways Will have rock activity again Ed indicated the brushes and paint are at the Conter House and need to be Commerce City Page 1 Cultural Council Meeting Minutes July 11, 2017 replenished. Susan, Debra, Jacob, Ed, Cathy will plan to be there o SCFD grant report back Ed and Daniela attended the Adams County board meeting where they reviewed grant award recommendations. o Colorado non-profit conference is Oct 30 & 31 Susan and Daniela attended last year. Great event, there’s enough funding for 2 other members to go this year. David is interested, Ed is not available 5. New Business o Roles and responsibilities Daniela presented a draft roles and responsibility outline for Cultural Council board members. Entails city responsibilities and board responsibilities. Susan suggested to add some of the work that the different committees do (i.e. MitP committee). Overall it’s a good start and great tool for new members. o Rapids game- August 10th at 7PM Daniela will find out about food, whether if the city pays for it or the Cultural Council has to. Board members will RSVP by the next board meeting, all remaining tickets will be raffled off. 6. Member Comments/Announcements o Susan has asked to make note in the minutes that Francine Crusan-Garcia resigned last month from the board. o Susan and Deb are attending a signage meeting for Derby o Public art wrap – add to next meeting o Art selection application Reminder that there are still spots to fill for all upcoming projects. o Anythink concert this Friday 10.
