Call To Order/Roll Call Present 10 - Board Member Abraham Ramirez, Board Member Angela Ramirez, Board Member Debra Bullock, Board Member Ed Hanson, Board Member Jacob Wilson, Council Regular Jose Guardiola, Board Member Kristi Douglas, Board Member Kristin Henning, Board Member Lucy Molina, and Board Member Samantha Hunt-Duran Excused 1 - Board Member Gary Kidd Absent 1 - Board Member Joel Georgia 2. Welcome/Guest and New Member Introductions Guests: Susan Miller from Cooperative Strategies New Member: Samantha Hunt 3. Regular Business • Financial Updates Current financials were reviewed and discussed. Henning motioned to approve spending for a wagon. Ramirez seconded. members unanimously approved. • New members or applications Next round of interviews will take place June 6 • Complete outside hours document Action completed • Cultural Council Job Description Staff forwarded to appropriate staff. Councilman Guardiola will confirm. 4. Approval of Minutes This was approved Minutes 04/09/2019 Attachments: Minutes 5. Committee Reports and Discussion Public Art/Others o Rotating Art Exhibit Update Members reviewed draft on the next art exhibition and gave feedback to staff to finalize. Commerce City Page 1 Cultural Council Meeting Minutes May 14, 2019 o Public Art Committee Fronterra update Four semi-finalists were selected to propose artwork for the site. Committee met at the park to scout best location for pieces. o District Art Show Adams 14 on April 30, 2019 Great event. About 350 individuals were in attendance. Music in the Park o Food Trucks New parks and rec vendor form is required. Communication inquiring food trucks to apply has been posted. o Flyer Staff will send out an electronic flyer to members. o New banners Members approved to order one new one. Pending funding, members will revist ordering more if needed. o Fans Staff will check-in with Georgia. Fundraising/Grants o New donors and Donor Phone Calls status Molina has secured some giveaways and will follow-up with potential sponsors. Members expressed disatisfaction with having to make calls to seek sponsors. Members will write a letter to council to advocate for more resources and support to help with things like securing sponsorships. o SCFD interview April 25, 2019 Hanson reported back that they were in general supportive but reminded us how dependent we are to the grant and need to diversify funding. o Commerce City Eats September 22-30 Guardiola, Henning, and Ramirez will meet offline to create a plan. Marketing Materials (need a new tent, box for supplies, badges, t-shirts, pens, etc.) o Cultural Council Brochure No action o Public art brochure No action o Event brochure No action • Social Media Joel No update o Calendar for 2020 status Henning and Bullock will work together to finalize o Facebook posts No update Upcoming Events o Memorial Day Wilson proposed to do a float.Molina volunteered to create a plan for 2020. o Cultural Council Booth presentation for 2019-June13 Neighborhood Outreach The Ramirez' will have cutout poster for individuals to take pictures for a donation. 6.
