1. Call To Order/Roll Call - 6pm
Meeting called to order at 6:09pm.
Attendees: Members Jennifer Martin, Jacqueline Riggs-Gonzales, Nick Gonzales,
Ronna Sanchez, Augusta Jonhart, Kelly Reyos, Jan Cruz, Omar Lozano.
Absent: Councilmembers Susan Noble and Kristi Douglas. Members Tyler Vitello,
Cynthia Montes, Linda Barr, and Jade Humphries
3. Approval of Minutes
Min 24-096
Jackie Riggs-Gonzales made a motion to approve the minutes from the May meeting.
Nick Gonzales seconded the motion, which was approved unanimously.
4. Public Comment
None.
5. Subcommittee Reports
a. Music in the Park
250 attendees for first concert. Positive feedback about the band.
b. Art Exhibitions
Summer photography show in both rec centers. 35 people attended the reception.
Celebration of diverse representation. Will share in future meetings the possibility of
bringing the student art shows back.

c. Hispanic Heritage
Omar and Cynthia on the planning committee. Group had discussion about council's
level of involvement, and decided they would at least cover entertainment, and a craft
at their table. They would reevaluate if they had more budget allocated to spend on the
event (expected to be around $4300). This opened a greater discussion about
objectives of Cultural Council from the city, and what the word "cultural" means in
Cultural Council with their main focus on art. Additional discussion around these topics
are to come!

i. Public Art Call Delay/Summer Meeting Scheduling
Jan Cruz motioned to approve to meet on August 20th instead of in July and to vote on
the meeting being in person or virtual. Jennifer Martin seconded the motion, which was
approved unanimously. The board voted to have the August 20th meeting held in
person unanimously as well.
ii. Upcoming 2025 Projects
Staff shared 2025 expected projects including road expansions, park enhancements,
and Cockelbur

7. New Business
a. September City Council presentations
Staff shared dates and will connect with those planning to present.
b. October Retreat Date (8/19 or 8/26)
Board is deciding between October 19th or 26th for their retreat date. It will be held in
the morning for approx. 4 hours.
c. Melissa Leave Information
Deanna Byar will be assisting in the August meeting. Parks & Rec staff will continue
to support Music in the Park. Looking at additional ways to support the ongoing public
art projects and calls.

a. Polos - send sizes to staff!
Polos and nametags are on the way. Please send shirt sizes to staff.
