Call to Order/Roll Call Called to order by Chair Spreutels-Martinez at 6:05 pm. Attendance: Present - Anmol Singh, Bianca Gonzalez, Derene Armelin (arrived late), Keena Day, Kelly LaRue, Chair Michelle Spreutels-Martinez, Vice Chair Nicole Corder, Vanina Capitane, Mayor Pro-Tem Jennifer Allen-Thomas (arrived late), Councilmember Oscar Madera (arrived late and left early) Absent - Iona LongSolider (excused), Mo Albert, Phazaria Koonce. Others Present - Staff Liaison Trenten Robinson 2. Leadership Elections Chair Day made a motion to nominate Michelle Spreutels-Martinez and LaRue seconded motion. No vote is needed as Michelle is running unopposed. Vice Chair Corder nominated self for Vice Chair. Armelin nominated self for Vice Chair. Vote - 7 for Corder, 2 for Armelin (Allen-Thomas and Armelin) Secretary Corder nominated Bianca Gonzalez-De La Rosa for Secretary and LaRue seconded the motion. DEI Budget Discussion Spreutels-Martinez moved to approve Option 1 (Lump Sum + Leadership) for budget management and to direct staff to add to bylaws; Day seconded. Vote - 10 Ayes, 0 Nays DEI Budget and Spending Process Proposals Attachments: List of Proposals 4. Motion to Purchase DEI Handouts and Swag for Events Spreutels-Martinez moved to allocate $2,500 for swag and handouts; Allen-Thomas seconded. Vote - 10 Ayes, 0 Nays. Spreutels-Martinez moved to call a special Leadership and Planning Meeting on July 5th at 6 pm for the purpose of directing staff on swag and handout purchasing; Madera seconded. Vote - 10 Ayes, 0 Nays. 5. 2022 DEI Event and Volunteer List Group decided to participate in Music in the Park. Volunteers are as follows: 7/21 - Singh, Allen-Thomas, and Capitane volunteered 7/28 - Spreutels-Martinez, Singh, and Day volunteered 8/4 - Allen-Thomas volunteered 8/11 - Day, Corder, and Spreutels-Martinez volunteered 6. New Business August Proclamations - Equal Pay Day on 8/3/22, read on 8/1/22. To be prepared and read by Spreutels-Martinez. - Women's Equality Day on 8/26/22, read on 8/15. To be prepared and read by LaRue. September Proclamations - National Hispanic Heritage Month for September 2022, to be read on August 15th. To be prepared and read by Capitane. - National Suicide Prevention Month for September 2022, to be read on August 15th. To be prepared and read by Corder. Commission discussed Education Opportunities and speakers for the Commission. Commission also committed to providing regular updates and items for a DEI Resource Page on the City Website. Approval of Minutes LaRue moved to approve May 2022 Minutes; Allen-Thomas seconded. Vote - 9 Ayes, 0 Nays. Minutes from the May 25th, 2022 Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commission Meeting Attachments: DEI Minutes - 5.25.22 8. Old Business Corder discussed her organization's recent recognition by the Denver Business Journal for their DEI Awards. No motion made to move to in-person meetings. Commission will discuss the opportunity to have luncheon in-person instead of regular meetings. Allen-Thomas moved to make the start time of regular meetings 5:30 pm; Armelin seconded. Vote - 8 Ayes, 0 Nays, 1 Abstain Liaison to reissue letters of appointment to Commission to allow everyone to receive their recreation center passes. 9.
