In attendance: Members Bianca Gonzalez de la Rosa, Iona Longsoldier, Scott Vanheusen, Ana LaScoezec, Councilmember Renee and Craig Kim. Interpreter Duane Stilwell. Guests Cheryl West and Antoinette. Absent: Marisol Shaw, Cynthia Montez, America Carbajal, Vanina Capitaine, and Marco Vega. 2. Land Acknowledgement & Rules of the Road Land acknowledgement presented by Iona Longsoldier. Rules of the road presented by staff. 3. Community Engagement None 4. Ice Breaker Group went around answering what emoji you are identifying with today. 5. Approval of Minutes Min 24-105 Iona motioned to approve the May meeting minutes. Scott seconded the motion, which was approved unanimously. 6. Juneteenth Celebration Report Event grew from last year, over 300 people attended. Flag ripped at flag raising, but has since been resolved. Next year maybe have more than one food truck and lengthen celebration event to 3 hours. 7. The motion was seconded by Bianca, which was approved unanimously. b. Finalize Budget Approximately $4,000 remaining for the year after Juneteenth. c. September Mini Retreat with 2025 Planning Councilmember Chacon left the meeting. Preference stated for an in person retreat in September to plan for 2025 on a Saturday for 3-4 hours. Staff will send a Google form to collect preferences, then we will finalize the date/time/location at August meeting. 8. Upcoming Current Events Let staff know if you are interested in participating in any upcoming events or proclamations. Appreciation was shared for proclamations made by multiple readers. Proclamations are written and prepared for readers in advance. 9. Melissa Leave Plans July 15th - September 9th: Eva LaBonte will be covering. Member Vanina stepped down from the commission. Recruitment efforts are in place for the two open seats. 10. August Agenda Setting Discuss bylaws regarding inactive members. September retreat Collection of resources 11.
