16-57 Discussion and recommendations for naming of new and existing
recreation centers
Committee discussed process for naming of recreation centers, possible themes
(historical names, geographical, prairie animal names, gateway to the mountains),
getting community feedback and making announcement to the public. Discussion
expressed that the names should unify but differentiate the two recreation centers and
should not be named after a person. Carolyn Keith will coordinate with the
Communications Department to attend an upcoming meeting so that the naming
parameters and timeline can be identified for a future presentation and
recommendation to City Council. Carolyn Keith will also contact Members Bond,
LaCrue and Walker for additional feedback on naming parameters for the next
meeting.
A motion was made by Member Walker for the PRG Advisory Committee to identify
the three (3) naming parameters and to name both recreation centers at the same
time. The motion was seconded by Member LaCrue. The vote was approved
unanimously.
