Call To Order/Roll Call Meeting called to order at 6:32 pm. Attendees: Dana Bond, Jadie Carson, Bruce Emery, Aaron Franek, Andrew LaCrue, Justin Maillet, Bret Walker Absent: Ray Cordova, Steve Douglas, Brent Loomis Staff Members Present: Carolyn Keith, Matt Miller, Candice Turnage 2. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Member Bond to approve the August 16 minutes as submitted. The motion was seconded by Member Franek. The minutes were approved unanimously. 3. Unfinished Business 16-48 Discussion of Fall City Tour Dates Discussion of possible City Tour dates. The tour will be set for October 29. Parks, Recreation & Golf Director, Carolyn Keith, will work with members that cannot attend this tour date and send out details later. 16-56 Parks Hotline update Carolyn Keith gave update on the Parks Hotline. Since most calls to the hotline were not parks related the current process is for patrons to call the Commerce City Recreation Center front desk (303-289-3760) so they can be directed to the correct staff member, unless it is an emergency and they should call 911. 16-47 Discussion of election of PRG Advisory Committee Co-Chairs Two Committee members expressed interest in becoming the Co-Chairs (Member Walker and Member Maillet). A motion was made by Member Emery to accept the two interested members as the Co-Chairs for the Committee. The motion was seconded by Member Franek. The vote was approved unanimously. 4. New Business Commerce City Page 1 Parks, Recreation, and Golf Meeting Minutes - Final September 20, 2016 Advisory Committee 16-57 Discussion and recommendations for naming of new and existing recreation centers Committee discussed process for naming of recreation centers, possible themes (historical names, geographical, prairie animal names, gateway to the mountains), getting community feedback and making announcement to the public. Discussion expressed that the names should unify but differentiate the two recreation centers and should not be named after a person. Carolyn Keith will coordinate with the Communications Department to attend an upcoming meeting so that the naming parameters and timeline can be identified for a future presentation and recommendation to City Council. Carolyn Keith will also contact Members Bond, LaCrue and Walker for additional feedback on naming parameters for the next meeting. A motion was made by Member Walker for the PRG Advisory Committee to identify the three (3) naming parameters and to name both recreation centers at the same time. The motion was seconded by Member LaCrue. The vote was approved unanimously. 16-58 Commerce City Recreation Center tour Recreation Supervisor, Matt Miller provided an overview of projects completed during the annual recreation center closure and took members on a tour to see the new cardio equipment. 16-59 PRG Advisory Committee Announcements Sept. 20, 2016 Attachments: PRG ADVISORY COMMITTEE ANNOUNCEMENTS 9-20-16 5. Committee Member Reports & Information Member Walker gave an overview of the September 14 joint CIP-CAC/PRG Advisory meeting. The agenda and minutes from the joint meeting were distributed to members. Highlights included: - The new recreation center ground breaking is Saturday October 15, with a live stream and reception at Buffalo Run Golf Course Clubhouse. Space will be limited on site for the ground breaking. - Update on existing recreation center renovation timeline and community impact. - Villages at Buffalo Run East Park Grand Opening is September 22. Member Carson stated art projects will be done at all sites and committee members are welcome to apply to the Public Art Committee. Co-Chair Walker inquired about the food expense for the PRG Advisory Committee; stating snacks would be enough rather than a meal. Discussion of the three (3) youth vacancies on the PRG Advisory Committee. Discussion expressed that the committee could get other perspectives from the Youth Advisory Committee and the Senior Advisory Committees. A motion was made by Member Walker to change the 3 youth vacancies to any age. The motion was seconded by Member Bond. The vote was approved unanimously. 6.
