Advisory Committee
QCF Committee Member Laura Hellewell reviewed the history of the QCF
Foundation, scholarship programs and the non-profit grant programs; including
highlights of the Curt Holland Memorial Scholarship program. Grant activities must
benefit Commerce City residents and must be for a nonprofit organization. The
Recreation Scholarship program was established in 2014 and funds recreation
programs for Commerce City residents of all ages as funds are available. Funds are
traditionally raised through fundraisers as a partnership between PRG and QCF.
There are several vacancies on the QCF committee and they are looking for
enthusiastic members to join and support the QCF.
Members discussed collaboration among the QCF Committee, Cultural Council and
PRG Advisory Committee on the Concerts in the Park family events.
6. Community Engagement/Interaction Updates and Feedback
There is tremendous growth coming in the area of parks and recreation. The E-470
Expansion has started, trail connections and opportunities for growth. Members gave
kudos to recreation for how nice the facilities are at EP and BR
PRG elevated the Concerts in the Park events this summer with all the family
activities.
7. Council Member Reports & Information
The City is starting to look at updating the 25 year Comprehensive Plan.
8. Committee Member Reports & Information
Despite COVID putting a halt to things, the hope is to get plans back on track for an
all-committee member annual event or dinner.
9. PRG Announcements
Distributed to all members via email on October 13, 2022.
